If you are looking to get a card at the "official" retail price, it's virtually impossible. If you're happy to pay the going prices, there are quite a few retailers with stock.

What is the going rate for a 3080/ti? I'm looking to build a pc capable of streaming and gaming from the one machine as mine is well on it's way out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,768 ✭✭✭Homelander

For a 3080 it's something stupid like €1,300 for a just OK one. It's really just insane.

I pop in and out of this forum every so often after giving up trying to get a 3080 during launch. It's a very sad state of affairs for everyone. Prices are vile.

I'll be happy to upgrade whenever elder scrolls 6 comes out at this stage. 😂

I'm swinging back to the idea of giving the brother the 6700K (OC'd to 4.6ghz), Z170-A Mobo, 16GB 3000mhz DDR4 and its looking like an RTX3070. Did the currency and tax calculations and your looking at €1000-€1100 so even if I could find 3070ti's in stock anyway the price would be too high. The prices for 3070's are insane but at least the insane S/H prices I should be able to get for my spare GTX1080 and RTX 2060 would offset most of it. Caseking.de have literally nothing in Stock. OCUK seem to have a decent amount of stock of some RTX3070's but they are working out around €1100. Has anyone any other suggestions in Europe for RTX3070's?

(Sure that brother will eventually get my 5900X and RTX3090 in a few years anyway when I upgrade to a Zen 4+ or Zen 5 or whatever Intel has at the time if they are back to beating AMD significantly and whatever the performance KING GPU is at the time whether AMD or nVidia)

The cheapest 3070 I can see is 939 EUR at Mindfactory. They only deliver in Germany, so you'd have to use a reshipper like Mailboxde.

Prices bottomed out in July, they've gone up quite a bit since.

Oh, forgot about Mindfactory! Just checked, they have Gigabyte 3070TI's in stock for €1049! I am assuming that due to the reshipping, Mindfactory will still only charge me German VAT @ 19% and not Irish VAT at 23% ?? The Reshipping will be about €20 according to Mailbox.de. Thats cheaper than a 3070 from OCUK! Just need to check case dimensions tonight and I may end up ordering it in the wee hours tonight.....and get busy getting those other two cards up on adverts.ie!

There was MSI Ventus 3070TI's for €979 for 2 days there but I procrastinated too much and when I went to order they were gone after having still had stock when I went down to cook dinner this evening. Ended up getting a Gigabyte 3070 OC for €949 @ €100 cheaper than the other 3070TI's they had in stock none of which would have fitted in the particular HTPC formfactor case I'm building this PC in. The Gigabyte 3070 being smaller but still a decent size triple fan cooler will give me several mounting options. Regardless, from a certain point of view it'll end up being a close to zero net cost as I'll get close enough to that for my spare GTX1080 and RTX2060.

Regarding previous posts, I priced some 10 and 11 series 8c16t Intels now that it turns out my brother is serious about the oul photography and he and his fiancee even have an Adobe Suite sub and are running Lightroom, and Photoshop and all that on her several year old mobile GTX 1060 equipped laptop. Fecks Sake. You'd be looking at €600 still for a 10th or 11th gen CPU and Mobo!!

Now that some 12900K's have made it into the wild early from leaky retailers, it seems that its going to give AMD an ass-whoopin in Single Core, <8 core optimised multi threaded applications and gaming performance and only in overall heavily multithreaded performance will the 5950X maintain a lead....and pricing is looking to be about €100 cheaper than a 5950x.

Given I am more the Heavy Gamer and VR Simmer, gaming performance is more important to me but my brother could really take advantage of the 12c24t of my 5900x, I think I am back to the idea of picking myself up a 12900K and new mobo, and giving my brother the x570 mobo and 5900x (that I never ended up ever using because my PC remains unbuilt due to workload.) LOL. Thats it though, I've paid him back for all he's ever done for me now. I owe him Nuthin' now! LOL

Gonna be a powerhouse Beast of a little PC I'll be building him to fit in his IKEA TV unit for Hobby and Play. A real Stealth Performance Machine.....unless I decide to add a Sensor Panel to the front!! LOL.

If it's just for productivity, a Ryzen 3800X + B550 motherboard is less than 450euro.

8 cores/16 threads, good boxed cooler (Wraith Prism RGB), upgrade path.

I am wary of Intel 12th-gen - for gaming, Intel are already warning that the architectural change will make them incompatible with DRM-locked games (i.e. almost all of them) unless developers push a software change.

Particularly interesting is the "Spatial Upscaling For All Games With Updated NVIDIA Image Scaling", which can be used on any game. I got better results in Far Cry 6 than what I can get with its native FSR.

12gb 2060, no lite hash rate limiter, this is pretty much exclusively aimed at the mining market surely?

It's insane that this is still happening and they haven't managed to get their stock levels to an acceptable rate at this stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,569 ✭✭✭Cordell

I'd say this is probably because they can sell whatever they can make, and 2060 is now cheap to make and very profitable to sell.

My geforce now 3080 subscription is starting tomorrow, it's one way to use a new generation of GPU 🙂, only wish the games list was better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,151 ✭✭✭Glebee

Mine is as well. Although my internet is gone to pot since the storm..:(

Ye, its a pity the games list is not stronger.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,532 ✭✭✭Icyseanfitz

Activated today, actually looking forward to testing it out vs my local 1080ti machine. What server you using glebee?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,569 ✭✭✭Cordell

I'm really curious about the latency, last time I tested one of these with M&K even if there were plenty of fps there was a "mushy" feeling in the controls.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,532 ✭✭✭Icyseanfitz

I've used the priority tier for the last month and it's great tbh, I use rocket league to benchmark latency and it's perfect. Be interesting to see if the increased fidelity/resolution from a 3080 will cause anything.

Using EU West all of the time but unplayable at the moment. My internet that usually gives me 55mbps has reduced to about 15mbps over the last few days.

okay this geforce now 3080 is some sort of magic, cyberpunk is definitely running at 60fps if not more (cant confirm as theres no in build fps counter) at 1440p ultra ray tracing settings, is a 3080 supposed to be able to do that? and the lag is non existent. I'm sold.

Can anyone tell me if an Evga 3080 or 3080ti are any good?

    I currently have a Zotar 2070 Super for FS2020.

I managed to get a 3060Ti this morning after searching heavily the last 4 days. Paid over RRP obviously but not scalper prices off an irish local supplier to so I am happy enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37 wiresandmore

Where did you get it? Looking for one too, they are thin on the ground on all sites I have seen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,969 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

Depends on the cooler but they should be fine.

3080 Ti is not worth price & power consumption premium over 3080 IMHO

Either card is nearly 2x as performant as a 2070 Super.

Been messing with Geforce Now 3080 over the Christmas after getting my internet sorted. Its very impressive once you have decent broadband. Im playing games on high settings on the worst laptop you could imagine. Its definitly putting me off upgrading my PC. If they could only increase the games that are compatibly it would be unreal.

I seemed to have been very lucky with my fairly recently full custom gaming pc build from PC Specialist seeing how long people are in queues to be able to purchase a high spec GPU. I ordered a full build with 3060Ti in October, delivered 4 weeks later.

PC Specialist and the other custom building sites are still far too expensive in my opinion

  • Posts: 24,009 Brinley Poor Squabble

Yeah expensive, but the service is superb for anyone who doesn’t want headaches.

    Compared to what?

If anyone is waiting for products to become available at MSRP range, the waiting might be very very long. Think Ice Age kind of timeline: the asteroid has hit 2 years ago, and the winter has just begun.
