Anyone have a list of garages in Cork area that have LPG pumps? Just about to buy a new Dacia Bifuel that will run on unleaded but also offers the option to run on LPG which is much cheaper.

It's not the main reason for buying the car but would be a nice bonus if I could find somewhere as it's about half the price of petrol.

O Brian’s Amber garage on the Bandon Rd, congrats on the new car, Sandero I assume, would be interested to know how you get on with it

There's one on the Tramore rd as well.. it's the place that does LPG conversions.

The last month or 2 has made me even happier with the Sandero I got this year, never paid more than a quid a litre. :D

Cheers. Went for the Sandero Stepway, won't get it for about 6 weeks yet but it looks decent for the money. A big step up from the earlier generations.

The latest range are bi fuel - they have a standard petrol tank but also have a separate lpg tank. So you can run it on either but the problem is that the majority of garages don't have LPG.

Apparently it's a big selling point for Dacia in eastern Europe but it's not really highlighted that much here.

Beware many places are only open limited/office hours. Best to ring ahead if going out of way. Prices may not be that low to justify the hassle so try to do the sums and LPG gas less energy per litre so it complicated the sums.

Full electric cars can have an 80% savings versus petrol but it depends on your budget, mileage and lifestyle.

The fact that they have an LPG tank, does that not add additional duty& vat.

I'm reminiscing the days when the difference between UK and ROI spec was partially because of the additional tax cost of extras.

Cheapest place in cork is leemount just beyond Anglers rest. 68 c /litre up to last week. Jumped to 85 since but they're just catching up with the rest.

Hi, just wondering how you are getting on with the Stepway and your opinion of it? Seriously considering one but wondering about the LPG experience. Thanks

The car is excellent value for money. The LPG option means I don't have to to watch or restrict any journeys. Only negative after 9 months driving is wind noise. Not the greatest aerodynamics

The one by the ballyhooly road is 1.29 now and I think the big Amber on the N71 might be after leapfrogging as well 😕

Sorry Tiger, I'm only seeing this now. Very happy with the Stepway and particularly the LPG aspect of it.

I'm getting it for about 85 cent a litre in the petrol station out by the Anglers Rest though I've heard it's much dearer now in some other garages. I also get it sometimes in Amber in Bishopstown for about 95 cent a litre but it's been a few months since I called there.

Makse sure someone in your area is selling the LPG though as outside of the city it seems to be very rare. I don't know of anywhere in West Cork doing it for example.

Nobody in west cork , there used to be a pump in Bantry but it's gone with a few years now. The fishermans co op in Castletownbere have a pump but they refuse to sell it to anyone.

It's no big deal anyway as if you get stuck on a journey at night when the LPG places are mostly closed you can just put petrol in it.
