A Very English Scandal is an upcoming British three-part television miniseries, based on John Preston's novel of the same name, that is set to premiere on BBC One.The miniseries will be a dramatisation of the 1970s Jeremy Thorpe scandal in Britain.

The series will be written by Russell T Davies and directed by Stephen Frears, with actor Hugh Grant starring as Thorpe and Ben Whishaw as Scott.

Very impressed with last week's episode, looking forward to tonight's.

Hugh Grant chews up the scenery (yes he can do a gay love scene, if it can be described as such) and who knew Dublin was such a swinging scene in the early 1960's, or possibly a bit of licence there.

If you don't know the story, you'll be amazed that it actually happened.

There may be a bit of simulated dog cruelty later on,the BBC were at pains to point out that no animals were harmed in the process.:)

Grant is very good as Jeremy Thorpe. You can tell it's directed by someone of quality, Stephen Frears gives the whole thing confidence and vigour without it feeling rushed or trashy.

Just as well this is a true story (albeit dramatised) as no one would dare make it up.

Very good, Grant may just have found a way out of rom-com hell

BBC Four is showing a never previously seen doc about the whole business. Of course he'd not get away with it now, no judge would be that flagrantly biased and no jury would be that susceptible.

I enjoyed this a lot, and the documentary on BBC4 which couldn't be shown originally when Jeremy Thorpe was found not guilty.

Good to see Hugh Grant getting praise for his performance, he is a much better actor than he is usually given credit for.
