Would be great to see more broadcasters joining and additional MUX coming online. Think this is a positive development, perhaps this means 2RN are engaging more with commercial customers to leverage the platform and bring in additional revenue.

Yes it would be.

Although most stations would be minority viewing and listening. Most people in the Uk watch the big 5 in the UK.

RTE can not beat away competition like it did in the past by restricting viewing and listening choice.

Every Irish radio station should be on the service.

Do people need to re-tune their Saorview equipment to get this new radio channel or is it automatically added to your channel list like what Sky News did last week. I have no interest in listening to this station btw. I want some clarification for it. Cheers.

Any existing Irish radio station could have been on it for the past 10 years if they paid the relevant carriage fee to 2RN, they all decided not to.

There has been no mention on Saorview's News page or on Twitter about the radio station joining the platform or on the online TV Guide https://www.saorview.ie/en/whats-on/guide

Hopefully it is RTÉ holding off an announcement so as not to spoil UCB's surprise. Sadly however we have often seen how RTÉs different departments don't talk to each other. Radio don't talk to TV. News don't talk to entertainment etc etc.

In the UK listening to the radio on the television accounts for 5.1% of all listenership but here in Ireland it accounts for just 0.6%, so like DAB, Radio via digital TV is another form of digital listening that never took off here but does ok in the UK.
