Whirlpool dishwasher problems

    Hi have a whirlpool dishwasher about 4 years old and used about 30 times thats giving problems. Usually as soon as you open the door it beeps and the power light button comes on. But now when you open the door none of this happens and when you press the power button it runs for a couple of seconds before cutting out. I have read up on it and can't find anything helpful. Just wondering has anyone any experience with similar or any ideas before I send for the repair man

    not an easy one to diagnose on the net but try resetting the pcb by holding the start sensor for 5/10 seconds, switch off and re select program.wash pump may be stuck if only used occasionally.

    Thanks for the reply only problem is the model only has 2 buttons thats the start/power button and a button to pick which programme but when holding the power button for 5/10 seconds only sees the machine starting and immediately cutting out again
