In honour of the great mans upcoming ROUNDY BIRTHDAY...

    image.png

"Two days before his 60th birthday, Irish country music legend Daniel O'Donnell will be celebrating live on the Late Late Show.

A host of musical guests will be joining Daniel for the celebrations, including Paddy Cole, Margo O’Donnell, Cliona Hagan, Susan McCann, Louise Morrissey, David James, Marc Roberts, and Jimmy and Claudia Buckley, as well as friends of Daniel's from other walks of life such as Packie Bonner and Shona McGarty."

This will of course, not be a complete celebration though, as the hand lotion/self abuse segment this week features Charlie Bird. An appearance was inevitable, but still...

"Former RTÉ presenter Charlie Bird has been candidly open about his recent Motor Neurone disease diagnosis, and tomorrow evening, Charlie will speak to Ryan Tubridy about how he has chosen to face death head-on.

He will be joined in studio by his wife Claire, and some of his great friends and colleagues."

The only bottle of wine for this episode of the LLS is a broken one used to impale oneself with, if I don't succeed in my mission I could be lucky enough to be a guest on next week's show to discuss what drove me over the edge and why now I look forward to the Annual LLS C&W spit bucket extravaganza.

This one has it all; Cuntry n Irish, a pinch of Gaah and a great big dollop of misery.

EDIT oK not Gaah, sportsball, whatever.

100% agree... I always think he's the 'ultimate bluffer but he really enjoys the charade.

Mother of God this looks like its going to excruciatingly painful.

I sympathise with Charlie Bird but does the nation really need to hear about his Tales of Woe and angst, RTE seem obsessed on its former employees , illnesses, Travails and depressing life after Montrose, didn't they turn down Charlie's desperate offer to return during the pandemic ( A rare good move by this institution)

Daniel O Donnells Birthday 🙄 whilst I've no doubt there'll be a lot wet chairs in numerous nursing homes across the nation, I'll give it a miss thank you, but appreciate advance warning 😏

After listening to a few days of utter misery and Shyte on the Liveline (Thread cheered me up 🤣) additional misery on Scare Byrne , I'd need therapy if I looked at this garbage tonight 😁

You should address that to Hobbidy, who will most likely try for tears.

Daniel is a force of nature in a sensible casualwear ensemble. I am not into his music, but really admire what he's achieved. Sales and a connection with legions of fans that puts 99.9% of hipster musicians in the shade. It's baffling, and I don't get it, but worse things have happened in cultural history than some fella crooning with a bit of a twang. He doesn't take himself too seriously either, which is refreshing in an industry that has too many people trying to appear intellectual/insightful. (Maeve Binchy had this nice quality too, whether you liked her work or not.)

Is he the brains of the operation, so to speak, taking care of the business side, too? Or is there some Svengali behind the scenes?

I'll not have a bad word said about Daniel.

I absolutely detest his brand of music, I have never heard him sing a song that I wanted to hear again.

However, he went out of his way to make my ma's birthday very special, and for that I'll always admire him as a person.

Plus, he is actually a funny guy too.

    But I won't be watching.

That's a nice story , I suppose I'm guilty of not fully understanding the following he has and yes, I do take the Pee but its tongue and cheek. I've also heard similar stories to yours and to be fair he does seem to be quite a decent person and generous with his time with many charities.

Very familiar with it, most awful thing imaginable.

Like the poster above said, we can only hope Ryan doesn't make this difficult time for him even more agonising but I fear the worst to be honest. Its absolutely devastating for Charlie Bird and his family.

Bookies favourite eh. I'd bet against her if I could. The public has never warmed to her. Fine woman mind.

My old crush Gráinne is after packing on a bit of timber during lockdown, the auld DWTS should get her back to her knockout body.

Ellen will murder them though, she's a movement machine.

The same mammy brigade that voted for Mairead will go for Grainne this year.

    A cert.

They should put Charlie Bird on it before it's too late. Now thats must-see-TV!

More bullying from Ryan. Just saying that it's not bullying doesn't make it so Ryan. Total hypocrisy from a man who preaches from the pulpit about being kind.
