Anybody watching Succession? The latest episode was brutal towards the end

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 36,270 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

Brutal good or bad? I've found season 3 a chore up to now and am kind of putting off watching the next episode until I have nothing else to watch

Succession is on my watch list so will be starting it soon enough.

I preferred the old off topic thread :(

I got bored of Succession about 3 episodes into Season 2. Haven't bothered watching since. They're all assholes and very little humour to redeem it

Brutal as in they were absolutely awful to each other. The new episode is very good. It's currently my favourite TV show by miles. Highly recommend it. Just know going in that every character is a terrible person.

I'm a big fan of Joe Abercrombie's books, they're similar in that nobody is a nice character, they're all just degrees of ****. Going to have to push Succession up my watching list. I did start watching the first episode once, but I was distracted and it looked like a show that requires your attention to not be half elsewhere.

Ah, I read his First Law trilogy years back and really enjoyed. Just picked up the first one from his follow up series, looking forward to it.

Would anyone who's lead a less sheltered life than me have an opinion on

    Playstation vs Xbox vs Nintendo??

One of my daughters wants a Nintendo Switch for Christmas, but is that the best of the three??

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I think for kids (maybe 14 and under) the switch is the one.

The Xbox and PS are more for "gamers". Most of the games seem to be online and geared towards boys.

What age are we talking here? ive a 15 year old boy whos a huge switch fan, mainly because hes into those role play games like hyrule warriors and ni no kuni.

the portability of the switch is the big advantage over the other two.. while the other two would have much more pawer game engine tech in them.

I'd go with the switch then off that's what she asked for. At least with the portability of it, she doesn't need to be stuck in one place all the time

Various news and sports media reporting that Stirling and Scotland backrow forward Siobhan Cattigan died on Friday last from suicide. She was 26.

I feel nothing but a dull heaviness when I hear these reports. You just never know.

    May she rest in peace.

Anyone got any idea how to mark all threads as read on this new shithole site? I have three threads now that no matter how many times you read the most recent post. Still show up as being unread. It does my head in. Is as bad as people having red dots on all their apps.

I'm becoming increasingly concerned that the United States Supreme Court is going to overturn the case of Roe v Wade which enshrined in the US Constitution, the right of a woman to have an abortion. Abortions will still be available because individual States can legislate for it, but the obligation at a Federal level will be gone. Many women, who live in more conservative states, will be denied access to healthcare which could save their lives. I just can't understand where this backslide to barbarism in the US started.

I understand that we're not supposed to talk politics in here, so I hope the mods understand that I'm coming at this point from a human rights angle. There are going to to be many lives that are lost needlessly.

I've no real opinion on abortion! If a woman can't be a mother, doesn't want to be or a rape victim who's pregnant, I suppose it's their choice. But! Does the fetus have any rights? That's the issue I don't understand. Is a fetus a living human?

I don't pay much attention to this issue at all. I can see it from both sides. I don't know if Europe has similar issues? Are abortions legal in the E.U?

I think Roe V Wade is settled law! The argument may be late term abortion? Either way, this will be ongoing.

On the topic of the Covid! The latest mutation! Does anyone believe that the South Africans are being treated unfairly?

Ah yes, abortion. A topic that will surely not cause any arguments after the banning of politics.

I'm torn on it personally. While I'm in favour of killing the unborn, I don't like giving women the ability to choose.

This is too close to politics. Sorry.

Take it to a more appropriate forum.

Given the level of spread of Omicron in just a week, no not really.

That Arsenal goal against Utd tonight is genuinely fantastic, complete comedy. 100% a goal though.

It was in Europe before it was in South Africa. They just have better means of picking it up. They have been royally screwed and we are disincentivising countries from announcing this kind of thing.
