Is registering for online banking now a requirement for online payments using SCA?

Or is there some alternative, e.g. similar to the AIB Authenticator app, that would allow these payments but not online banking in general?

Hi there,
thanks for getting in touch with us here today. To complete a payment using your card for the account you must have the mobile app downloaded to your mobile device. You would receive a push notification to the device which you must swipe to approve. For more information on this please see the link attached.
