Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi guys.

    Do you know, if I can enrol a child in secondary school in Ireland 2 years before he would start it?

    No, not since the new admissions law was brought in in 2018. Admissions policies in primary and secondary schools (citizensinformation.ie)

    The rules changed recently regarding school enrolment/admissions. If it is a non fee paying school the application window is now during October (like 1st-21st or similar) of the year before the child is due to start. So for Sept 2022 enrolment the application window was the October just passed. For fee paying schools they still have to abide by the new rules but they were given a period to adjust as they already had waiting lists for years into the future. I do not know how many years they were given to fully move over to the new system.

    Having said that, if the school is not usually oversubscribed then in reality you can apply right up to the starting month if there are places. Depends on what part of the country you want to send the child to school.
