Where is the best place to buy decent SSD drives and memory at cheap price?

Im looking for 120gb hard drives and some 8gb memory?

Any recommendations on brand names to avoid or to get?

regarding quality … thats down to experience …

I’ve had issues with two different wd drives so not fond of em…have seagates that never created issues

ive a friend who swears by wd and hates seagates as he has issues with them

I just use memoryc because I know its going to arrive from Ireland and not randomly be coming from the UK or otherwise outside the EU and get hit for customs. Price saving elsewhere is rarely big and is not worth it.

Here are two fantastic deals to save you a pile of cash on 2.5 inch ssds for only £13 for 128gb (have one 10 months and it's working perfectly well. sata ssds are commodities at this stage and there are nearly1500 reviews on amazon with a high rating)

as above have had bad experiences with WD / Western Digital

If the ssd drive fails is it impossible to retrieve any information from them.

Also have you any recommendations for buying tools like screwdrivers for taking out old hdds and replacing them with ssds.

I'd be looking at old ish computers that I want to upgrade with celeron processors. Would it still be worthwhile upgrading them and would the speed of the laptop improve.

What's the difference between the v and p version of the ssd drive in the amazon link above.

yes the ssd will speed it up hugely

ignore the p and v- not material - just pick the best price

don't worry about drives failing. any drive can fail

tbh don't know about ssd vs hdd recovery.

the important fact here is that even sata 3 ssds are 5 to 10 times faster than hdds

the ratings for that drive are very high - it's pretty good

you only need a few philips screwdrivers and mabye an old plastic loyalty card / band card as a case divider tool

search mobile phone tools if you want to get pry tools

if the cpu is really old and bargain basement like old celerons you will get an uplift on boot times but it won't make general operation after boot that much faster

check the score for the cpu model on cpubenchmark.net and if the score is under 1200 I wouldn't bother really
