I assume you mean Montepulciano D’Abruzzo rather than Vino Nobile di Montepulciano?

That's always confusing, think they are planning to go with just Vino Nobile in future...

If only it was that simple... both are red.

The Vino Nobile is a premium wine made with the same grape as chianti (sangiovese), not that common here.

The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo (grape Montepulciano) is more readily available and much more likely to come across it say on restaurant wine lists. I would hazard a guess thats the one you are looking for.

I think that's the one. Although I'll have to wait until Christmas to confirm it.
