Really stressed trying to find a room to live in Galway

Been trying to find a place to live in Galway for 3 months now and been having the worst luck. I have exellent references from past landlords from other parts of the country. I'm not a student, I'm in a professional job in the public service. Loads of adverts don't even get back to me when I email through Daft, and the ones that do, I go to the viewing, tell them I'm interested, and never hear back. Last week I viewed a room in a house. Really really nice place, clean, friendly owner occupied landlord. No negatives at all with the place. I'm after seeing on Daft that the same room has been readvertised, but with a later move in date. Would it be a waste of time just emailing them saying I'm still really interested and I'd love to take it still? I'm commuting so much each day and it's really grinding me down now. Thanks for any advice anyone can offer.

U could always live in athenry or Oranmore and get train in also if no luck in Galway city .

Absolutely email again. A couple of years ago I advertised a room and had a number of people come and view. I chose someone and they never came back to me. I received a follow up email from a lady who also viewed and then I gave it to her. Probably should have chosen her first but hey that's life. Best decision ever as she was the easiest person to live with and always paid the rent on time. Always worth a follow up.

Rather than emailing into someone's inbox along with the 10000 other emails that they will nto read, try the old fashioned way and pick up the phone if provided or even call into a letting agent's office.

You were unlucky with your timing it would have easier at the start of Summer.

I'd say it's a numbers game though, just keep trying to view as many places as possible.

Things have got crazy in Galway I agree it's sad to see, used to be a town where you could happily live on the dole for a few months and still have a good time 😋
