Yes I'm making fact based posts about Biden on the Biden thread.

I admit that it's a novel approach which many other posters may find hard to follow, judging by the whataboutery comments on Qanon and such.

I ask for a policy and you give me a list of questionable talking points. This is the problem. You’ve decided he’s pandering to the progressives and are shoehorning whatever talking points you can to fit that narrative.

I don’t care about the attacks on his mental well being. They are a distraction from what really matters: political actions.

You're working in a safe space making claims that can't be attacked or discussed because you're too afraid to discuss it elsewhere and be exposed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,116 ✭✭✭Melanchthon

So your going to ignore the fact that they tried to implement federal funding that were illegally discriminatory against white people, that's a provable policy political action right there so don't dismiss my post. I will pull the rulings if you like but I don't see much point.

I know you don't care about X Y and Z because whatever Biden does is the right thing but if generally if something is a talking point it means people are talking about it.

Particularly if Trump is less and less in the picture, how are they going to change people's minds from having worries about Bidens mental abilities.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,519 ✭✭✭✭everlast75

With Fox and other tv stations, and posters on 4chan, reddit and here pedalling lies 24/7 about Biden it's no wonder they are filtering through to people.

He had his physical yesterday. If those conspiracy theorists gave over, then the results should put the matter to bed once and for all.

Nobody is answering me about how they can change people's minds.

Like the simple answer would be to throw him into lots of less managed press conferences, hard ball interviews and so on, is there a reason they aren't doing that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 17,545 ✭✭✭✭astrofool

Well the physical should put all the sh*te talk to bed (it won't, but should).

Biden needs the economy to start growing, start getting money into people's pockets and get the infrastructure started along with the job creation it brings. There is a lot of pandemic factors putting pressure on some sectors (energy, electronics) but scarcity is usually followed by a glut, it's in no interest of the Saudis for oil price to be high and there is lots of manufacturing coming back online and new manufacturing opening that will reduce the inflation burden. The question is whether a lot of this happens before or after the mid terms, timing is tight.

OTOH, while the GOP could make house and senate gains, they have no effective plan for the presidency, re-runs don't usually go well.

And what is that reason because I don't think you've insight whatsoever, bar conjecture, as to their policy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 17,545 ✭✭✭✭astrofool

I would say that a lot of it is down to constant propaganda from right leaning news channels in an attempt to drag others down to their level as it's a sore talking point for them constantly having to defend the stupidity of the attempted coup, the obesity of the previous prez or the Qanon wing. This is the only reason it's even a talking point.

Biden doesn't help himself at times (he has a stutter and that stance was weird, but we could have an entire gallery of politicians standing awkwardly if wished).

It is however sh*tetalk from people with no other ways to attack and says more about the morons who post such drivel than the person they are taking aim at. Some are finally moving beyond this line of attack, others are still trolling away.

I care about policy. You haven’t named one.

You can’t even name a policy, never mind an executive order or legislation he pushed.

And no, not everything Biden does is right. His unwavering support for Israel and approval of arms deals with Saudi Arabia are both wrong for a start.

If they really wanted to put the matter to bed then they could have done a test of his cognitive abilities as part of the medical, like trump did. but it seems they didn't

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 17,545 ✭✭✭✭astrofool

Why would they run an unneeded test to satisfy the desires of internet trolls? There is a reason the last el prez was asked to take one.

But look, if Biden doesn't write his own report then the US is in a far better place than it previously was.

Everyone accusing him of mental decline should take this test. Just to put to bed their own issues first. Not saying anyone accusing him has mental decline but people are talking and it would be best put to bed.

He says quite clearly that the jury has the power. How do you turn that into him saying the jury got it wrong or undermining the legal system?

Have a but if common sense and read or listen to what he said.

And everybody has the right to be angry when a man who killed two people gets a not guilty verdict. It's not a case that he didn't kill anybody.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14 EtonMess

Biden has already been thinking about interfering in the courts system in terms of packing the supreme court. Undermining the jury system too is not a stretch for him. It seems that high level democrats are screaming for it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,392 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Lmfao, that is just so stupid given what went in with the last President. He needs to even up the Supreme court a bit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14 EtonMess

Overreach of the executive branch into the running of the justice system is a one way ticket to a failed state.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,116 ✭✭✭Melanchthon

Its funny that none of the big Biden fans here think that the right solution to opinion polls showing worries about his mental abilities respond with they should put him in front of the cameras more.

Did you say that when the last President made all his appointments?

Yeah, it's a case of people not biting on the crap being posted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14 EtonMess

What you talking about? Trump did the normal process of nominating justices for the supreme court to the congress for their approval.

Biden has talked about undermining the whole political system by packing the supreme court. Effectively nuturing the supreme court to the whims of the sitting president. A very dangerous move.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,392 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

The last President appointed enough to the Supreme court to as you put it 'effectively nurture the Supreme court to the whims of the sitting President'.

If Biden evens it out that'd be a good thing imo.

Why do you continually dodge questions and then attack unnamed posters for doing the same?

    Has he? When?

I can’t recall Biden ever saying he’d add extra seats to the Supreme Court. He has said he supports an independent commission into reforming the court though.

I think it’s hilarious that people scream “executive overreach” when the judges are all appointed by the executive in the first place. When the court was more evenly balanced the same people screamed judicial overreach at every opportunity. Phrases like “legislating from the bench” were used. Now it’s balanced towards the conservatives, silence

McConnell blocked Garland and then Trump rammed through his pick.

He then broke a last request from a dying SCOTUS and rammed another through.

I'd be 100% happy if Biden expanded the SC and put 7 more judges on the panel.

This revisionist nonsense of the previous guy doing nothing wrong and then wailing when biden does anything at all is frankly boring already.

What question have I dodged, Biden put forward funding that was anti-white discriminatory, as proven in the courts, that's a policy and very much in the modern progressive American type of race being more important than other factors.

Your the one dodging questions. When more of the electorate are concerned about the president's mental abilities you can't just say it's a distraction.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,218 ✭✭✭✭Danzy

It's a bs tactic though, all Presidents appoint people to the supreme court who are akin to them, that's natural.

What is being talked about is stacking the court, will the next President have to add 10 more seats. It becomes an Unworkable nonsense.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,928 ✭✭✭✭osarusan

Rather than whining about him, the Democrats could do with a McConnell-style character who will brazenly take every single inch he is given and turn it into as many miles as he can.

Trump got fortunate with the number of SC judges he could appoint. Ginsburg's wishes meant nothing, and she could have done what Sandra Day O'Connor did and time her resignation so that she'd be replaced by somebody similar. And any president would be a fool to turn down the opportunity to appoint a judge to their liking.

I think expanding the SC would be the mother of all political wars, and I doubt Biden would do it tbh.

Even now, Gorsuch has turned out to be more likely to side with the more liberal justices than we might have imagined. Another Anthony Kennedy in the making perhaps.

Dying wish...haha. That means absolutely nothing. Perhaps Biden has made a Birthday wish you would like to blindly follow?
