Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Steel bead tyres, pros and cons?

Steel wire bead tyres are a little cheaper and that's about it for benefits. They can be a little more difficult to install compared to aramid beaded tyres as there is less stretch - this might be an issue for carbon wheels if you have to use levers to get the tyre on. Punctures might also be tougher to deal with. Having said that, there are plenty of folding tyre / rim combos that are stupidly tight.

Wire bead tyres can't be folded (other than a figure-of-8) which makes them more difficult to store and more expensive to ship compared to a folding tyre.

Those Goodyear tyres have a folding aramid bead, not a steel bead.

Thanks for that. I ordered them, then cancelled them but have reordered them again. I have a grey and orange defy and tan walls look really good with that colour.
