What kind of battery life are you getting with the above?, these charge at various levels, very little when driving normally (12.6V/13.4V) and very high charge levels (15V) on overrun. The VAG group seem to base battery life (for EFB batteries at any rate) on a cycle life of 50 X battery capacity, in my case 50X59, 2950 AH, the usable battery charge is calculated on the (battery charge level) X (the remaining cycle time), 59*0.78*(2950-1280)/2950, 26AH. This means that I should/could expect ~ 6.5 years battery life but a lot of people do my kind of mileage in 1 year so don't know if below means anything. Someone with VCDS might care to check out their readings and comment. The car has Stop/start but this is disabled for 90% of the time so can virtually be ignored.

How long your battery last depends more on driving style more than anything else. If you do lots of short journey's your battery won't last feck all time, if you do mostly long journeys your battery could last decades. We've batteries that are >20 years old still starting vehicles.

That was with conventional charging systems which, at least on VWs, charged at a constant 14.1V/14.3V, I've never had to replace a failed battery in 58 years of driving, I did replace one, purely as a precautionary measure after ~ 12 years on a 2005 Polo still in the family, this car has spent its whole life on very short (shopping) runs. Will keep an eye on this one and report progress.
