Longest hole in Ireland?

2nd in Killeen Castle 613 from the black tee.

As far as I can tell, the scorecard is in yards. I'm basing that on the length of the par 3 eighth which is 243. If that were metres it would exceed the maximum recommended length for a par 3 hole (240 metres).

The par 5 8th on the Cashen Course in Ballybunion is 605yds off the back tees.

Yeah, the 9th. Played there this summer. Another one the same length is the 8th in Macreddin. 608 yards off the back tees.

Yeah, 596 I think. One of the first ones I thought of, but not over 600 yards.

The 6th in Portmarnock is 603, I remember it being long off the greens @564 its a drive, 3w and 9/8 iron for me off the back sticks and thats if there is no wind :O

And Hollywood Lakes isn't a particularly long course. I would think not many reaching that one in three either. 😁

I think most course have all their tees listed on the scorecard. There may be a few with unused tee boxes, but I'd say the vast majority have all their tees listed. Especially now when you can get them all rated.

Ah it's all downhill and pretty straight. Not hard to reach in 3 at all. It's trying to avoid the 3 putt when you're on is the problem.

The last in Blessington Lakes at 603 yards must be the longest finishing hole in the country. Great hole too.

Par 3 15th hole in Birr comes in at 240 yards off the back sticks.

Its a beast especially if into the wind.

I cant think of many Par3's in Ireland where everyone in the group took Driver, but the 15th at Ballybunion is definitely one. The wind was against us i think is possibly the most daunting par3 ive ever played, Its index 4 on a very difficult course... beast of a hole.

Another one that comes to mind is the 16th at Rosses Point, again if the wind is against you, its a monster of a hole, think its 206 off whites, but when we played it, it was straight into a heavy wind which was at least another 60-80 yards.

As for par 3s, the par 3 (7th maybe) on the new 9 at Carne must be 230/240 yards I would guess. Beast of a par 3

Yea its a tough one, but anytime I've played it the wind has been helping, and its also a little downhill I think? so plays a bit shorter. but still a tough hole.

12th in Westport is 230 yards off the blues. Massively downhill though usually has wind into to counteract that. Because of the height difference everything lands soft so you need to carry to the middle of the green.
