Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Buzzing sound in milking parlor

From time to time there is a buzzing sound occurring in our milking parlor. It tends to happen randomly for a second or 2 or for up to 20 seconds.Sometimes after starting up the milking machine,an odd time during the milking or after milking when the machine is being washed out.It seems to be coming from the electronic pulsation system over the pit.We have been told the problem has to do with an electrical issue.A lack of voltage or something. The electrician has told us that the voltage is at the correct level having done a test on it.Anyone have any ideas on what is causing the problem.

It's probably a shuttle I think they're called acting up. It's a cylindrical magnetic unit inside the pulsator with a little 'shuttle' inside that opens and closes the vacuum.

You should be able to follow the sound to find the problem one.

Is it like an air horn sound, if so it's a diaphragm

It's a rather loud sound right across all of the pulsating system. Difficult to know if it only one of the pulsators causing the problem. It is definitely a sound similar to a bee hive only much louder. Not anything like a air horn.

What voltages did the electrician check? Just the mains? Or DC voltages as well? Does he know what DC voltages are normal for the parlor to start with?

If you think the pulsator solenoids are the issue then you really should get a pulsation service/ test as it could effect your cow health.
