I know 2 clean head shots and one through the eye. Shite

Doesn't matter what we think of it anyway, going by the reviews the American's have lapped it up. 2nd season for sure

Not to mention the hit during an epileptic episode.

It was a bike I think and they showed a body with a trainer so I'm guessing it was Kem. If your going to clear house the rat has to be got too.

Thanks for the reviews and comments everyone. I waited until the show was finished before downloading. Was going to show it to my Japanese wife so she can see what Dublin is like (sort of). I enjoyed Love/Hate so I had hopes this one would be good.

Sounds like it was utter shite so will give it a miss!

That would make sense as the trainers didn't look like what con was wearing and I really couldn't have been arsed to rewind to see.

Sam Keeley really bulked up for the role, and his accent in real life is completely different - he's from Offaly!

Something like a 5/10 overall for me. Seems like they had all the right parts but it didn't knit very well.

Was impressed by Ciarán Hinds, thought he made a memorable baddie.

I've never met a pharmacist to be so casual in their language either with a complete stranger.

"They just put that on the label to cover their arses". Not really something a pharmacist would say. Is she going to be used to import drugs now?

it was probably his first kill.

Vast majority of the black actors are in positive positions. Solicitor, Psychiatrist, Detective, Nurse. I'm surprised the pharmacist wasn't black too.

    Viking 😲

Jaysus, I'd have been a long time guessing that - had to google it!

With a gun. Or did he buy it in Lidl? The amount of holes in the storyline was astonishing tbh.

Utter shite wouldn’t come close to describing how rubbish it was, the final episode was incredibly bad, completely unbelievable, laughable stuff. It’s more of a comedy than anything else, you’d burst out laughing at the hopeless acting and ridiculous storylines. Pure muck.

I found the last episode quite unconvincing.

In previous episodes Jimmy is blasting the head off Amanda telling her she's just looking after the dealership and how Frank runs the family, not her. Then this episode he's a slave to her doing whatever she says. Even Birdy was at it in previous episodes telling her Frank runs the family yet she was happy for Amanda to arrange the meeting with Eamon while Frank while going apeshit.

And how did Amanda know Eamon was going to Spain anyways?

I enjoyed the series. There I said it. :) Would have preferred to binged on it and not have to let it drag out so much.

Now it's back to succession for me.

I think Charlie Cox as an actor is brilliant, but he was very under used in this. Perhaps the mystique behind calling him "the magician" will come to the fore in season 2, but by god was it a slow road so far.

I don't get RTE dramas. If this was a pilot season for an american show it would be ditched. How can they pull it off over there when we struggle to reach even a comparable standard?

Did Eamon get shot in the eye or was that just a birthmark too??

    Strange show.

Eamons wife was sick and dying but what relevance did that have? Or his weird retreat thingy?

What relevance did Michaels epilepsy have? Or the pharmacist?

Did the love triangle with Amanda, Jimmy and Michael mean anything?

Basically a bunch of irrelevant nonsense for 8 episodes and then they just shot Eamonn.

But them Turkish gangster kingpins will never get past an Garda siochana parked on landsdown road. Unless they have tickets for a match!! Are ireland playing Turkey anytime soon?? Or they could even pass for Morocco or Azerbaijan.

I enjoyed it for what it was, a fictional tv show. Was it a real life representation of how people in that world usually act. I have no idea and I imagine most people watching wouldn't know either. The acting was very ropey at times. I don't see what the problem is with having as many black characters as they did. It's not the 1970's anymore and there are more than a few black people living here now.

The plane got diverted, then they got out on a bus back to Dublin.

I thought he burned Cons body as a **** you to Con for threatening to set Anthony on fire?Maybe it was Ken as mentioned above...

Thought it was a bit silly alright when the 2 boyos were shot in the airport and Eamonn casually says ah no Michael you've made a mistake I got that thing sorted with Amanda....she was the one who ordered him out there obviously...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,681 ✭✭✭Man Vs ManUre

It definitely wasn’t Kem he was burning. Kem got forgiven by Amanda and brought back into the gang.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,760 ✭✭✭Effects

No chance. You don't forgive someone like that, and let them back in your gang. Amanda was just using him.

Not to mention he's a witness to Jimmy killing Con.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,681 ✭✭✭Man Vs ManUre

It’s fairly normal after doing a bit to burn as much evidence as possible, clothes, weapon, car. It makes the dna unusable. Although most hitmen don’t bring a change of clothes for there and then, but a good hitman would dispose of their clothes after they make their escape.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,681 ✭✭✭Man Vs ManUre

Kem wuda been some idiot if he went along with her plan to setup Con if there was any chance he would then get the same treatment. I’ll need to rewatch the scene as I didn’t pay any attention to what he was burning.

    Agree with you.

So many seemingly pointless asides and unfinished story lines / plot holes

    - how is Jimmy not more peed off that his wife was with his brother?

    - why has Birdie no role as such?

    - would a social worker, solicitor or pharmacist really curse at customers in real life?

    - why so many shots of Aviva and convention centre?

    - how is Jimmy able to smell burning flesh by ironing someone's face but not able to shoot someone without freaking out?

    - why have the Kinsellas no staff at all?

    - what relevance was Frank being on Grindr/ being gay?

    - what relevance was Michael shooting Anna's mother?

-what you said: what relevance was Eamons wife being sick, him attending an ayahuasca ceremony and having an approx 8 year old son- where did that kid come from? What was in the velvet box?

What was the significance of the woman in the pool?

    - how did Michael appear in Spain, get a gun, know where he was meant to go, shoot in a massively public area with no mask, able to travel freely etc etc

    - why was it not safe to go to Amsterdam or the pharmacy but OK to go to school, cafe?

    - what made Frank overdose? He was a soft touch all along so why give a shite about that now?

    - Jimmy and Amanda were all loved up at the start (sex scene), by thr end they were barely talking. Also someone else here referenced Jimmy telling her what her place was and suddenly he's OK with doing her bidding?

    - why would Eamon give anyone "chances " and not annihilate them all to get his 50m drugs back? Esp when he was being charged for the privilege by his Big Boss

    - why would Con not burn Anthony (why isn't he Anto?) anyway for what they did to his kid dousing him in petrol?

    - how was it thwt easy to steal the drugs and store them? What was the point in stealing them in the first place- they weren't selling them, they just used them as a "hostage " in the end. Pointless

    - why did Eric ask Nikki to get thr "witness" killed. Surely there was up to 40 people at the party who would be more than happy to testify against the "no staff" Kinsellas? Plus it was the 4 traffic cameras that got him.in the first place- they can't kill those.

    - what will they/ havr they been doing for money if they're not selling and not laundering? If neither Kinsellas nor Eamon have drugs to sell, wouldn't there be someone else willing to supply the customers in that vacuum?

    - did they give Eamons "Jimmy piss money" back to him or was he cool with just gifting it as an oops for killing Jamie?

    - why are Jimmy, Michael and Frank so close in age. If Bren had the 2 lads at 20 and they are 40 ish now (have to be as Jamie was 17) that would make Bren and Frank nearer 60 if not older

There are loads more I can't think of now as well as loads of incredulous stuff such as the cafe shooting, the middle of the road meet ups with no consequences etc.

That aside it was something to do on a Sunday evening when I always get a bad case of the Glenroes so....

Edit: Season 2- if it happens. What in the name of Jaysys makes the "no staff" Kinsellas think they can take on the "Big Boss" when they barely survived Eamonn and even Eamonn wasn't willing to piss off the Big Boss.
