Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I used Partel and blowerproof, there is also Belgacoat google all them and you will find suppliers.

Is the airtightness issue here no the chase itself rather the entry and exit points. I.e paint isn't the solution for solving air tightness in a chase?

Blocks are porous to air and water and are not airtight, we paint the box chasing and wall chasings and make the conduit airtight if going into attic for example with Acrabond or any airtight membrane adhesive and then airtight tape.

So both are susceptible to air leakage.

    Cheers !

Although from the first sentence then wouldnt you paint the entire wall not just chase ?

No, the plaster will make the wall airtight, problem is the electrician will install the conduit before the plaster goes on. 😁

Won't the whole wall including the chase get plastered over? Seal the bottom / top of conduit & tape junction between sand & cement plaster & Concrete slabs instead of painting the chase? you might aswell paint the whole wall at that rate.

The purpose of painting the chase is because the plaster, which is your airtight layer does not get around the back of the conduit. Every house I have tested has air leakage through the earth pin on all sockets where the chasing has not been sealed. Proof if there ever was that it is required.

Regarding air tightness paint, is there any cheaper alternatives to the likes of blowerproof, soudal etc?....

Would the likes of this not suffice considering its waterproofing?
