Yep it’s from 2016 I think, it got recommended to me after I watched the accident with Sarah Lancaster which was also superb

Time is contagious, everybody's getting old.

I thought The Accident was awful. Felt like half of it was missing. Really poor. Kiri was the other one in that series, which was alright.

I gave up after an hour...very poor :(

I am usually a sucker for a trashy horror I enjoyed the babysitter on Netflix even...but this was awful.

The lead guy is likeable enough he was excellent in bumblebee...but it was just a boring mess imo.

I said Hustlers was a chick flick on the AP thread and got a big backlash. I still maintain it is 100% a chick flick. I liked it, the 2 leads were great but even the ensemble women cast were great, good story from start to end. It’s Casino starring women.

I'd question your definition of a chick flick, to be honest, and saying "even the ensemble women cast were great" is just a weird sentence in itself.

But yes, it's a very enjoyable film and comparisons to something like Casino or even Goodfellas are much more apt than calling it a "chick flick".

Once again I show my age when I see "Rap superstar" followed by a name I've never heard of. Not that I follow rap music

Dark Waters was on Amazon Prime this past winter - it is an excellent watch. I don't know how to find my old posts with this new boards host, but I was full of praise for it at the time.

Started watching Dirty Money over the weekend because I was on my own and bored. Only watching season one but some of the stories are mental. The Scott Tucker one is crazy - it's absolutely amoral how they preyed on poor people but he really believed he did nothing wrong. Him, his wife and the lawyer were just awful, awful people.

Thanks for bringing this series to my attention. I somehow hadn't heard of it before which is surprising given it's very much my type of doc-series and it's been very well received.

Now I have about 12 hours of corporate crime content to catch up on.

One docu-series I need to stop giving second and third chances to is The Movies That Made Us. Each season I get lured back in by a new episode that piques my interest and I end up stubbornly hate watching the whole episode as I don't like to turn things off half way through.

Bloodshot (2020) - A dead soldier is resurrected with new biotechnology and embarks on a mission of revenge in this sci-fi action drama based on the comic book series

It looks very like a series Suranne Jones was in a few years back on ITV. Unforgiven it was called and was written by Sally Wainwright, about a woman who was in jail for shooting police officers, I think, and was looking for her little sister when she got out.

I hate this. I started watching the anime because I knew they were doing this, I wasn't really enjoying it and now I know that I'm not gonna like this live action version I think I'll stop. It's way too overstylised for me.

Been watching the anime myself and loving it. It’s the kind of wild, OTT action that can be so vividly realised in animation it kinda feels like the live action version is doomed to failure. Some of the action scenes in the anime are just impeccably staged, and the whole thing radiates style.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,793 ✭✭✭FunLover18

Yeh, I don't hate the anime, I can appreciate it's well made but tonally it's just not really working for me. John Cho also just looks too old.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,711 CMod ✭✭✭✭pixelburp

I have absolutely zero interest in the anima - just generally don't care for it TBH - but that live-action show looks like it could be a bit of fun. It's nice to see a show that might be happy to have "zany" adventures in space without the melodrama. As much as a love The Expanse (and I love The Expanse), Cowboy Bebop might be a good palette cleanser.

Struggling through ‘Brand new Cherry flavor’, it’s a bit sh1te. Might give up on it after 4 episodes.

Are you watching the anime in English or Japanese with subs? I watched a few episodes of the anime on the All4 catchup but the English dub put me off - it's not awful but it's not great either. I'll probably give it another go now it's in Netflix.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Arts Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 31,482 CMod ✭✭✭✭johnny_ultimate

Subbed! I'd actually started to watch it on Netflix a year or two ago, but it was removed when I was only two or three episodes in (awful timing). Then it popped up on All4 with dub-only, and I'm the sort of idiot who would rather not watch an anime show or film at all than watch it dubbed :P

At least Netflix had lined up the next episode I had to watch when it came back a few weeks ago 😁

Thanks to everyone who recommended The Chestnut Man, wouldn't have watched it otherwise, started the first episode and before I knew it, it was 4am and Episode 4....

    Really engrossing.
