Is there any company like XSDirect any more. Many years ago after my ban and still with my endorsements I got a quote from XSDirect for around a grand but the catch was if you were in an accident you had to pay 3 grand excess. Luckily I didn't crash for those two years so got through the two years endorsement and then had two years no claims bonus to go to a normal insurance company.

Possibly yeah, I mean I'm ringing around near impossible to get sorted after work l, just waited 20 mins on phone to Axa so I hung up.

I'll try them now XSDirect now. Good thing you got sorted I bet you had better luck then more unfortunately. Cheers for the response

I'm sorry to say but XSDirect went bust a few years back and then came back with a different model so may not be as competitive as they were back 7 or 8 years ago. That's why I asked if there was any company any more like them, I was hoping someone with more information may tune in but this site has been awful quiet since the change over.

Renewal from Liberty comes in at €805 TPFT and €860 fully comp.

Haven't gotten around to getting much quotes but I did try the one big switch code with Zurich and was quite surprised by how affordable it was!

€532 for TPFT and €591 for fully comp.

Is there much point in calling around or should I just go ahead with Zurich?

Trying to get a quote for my wife who has no NCB as she's been on my policy for the last 4 years as named driver.

She's 30+ and the car is a 2011 Hyundai i30 1.6L. Most quotes coming in at €830 fully comprehensive. Thought it might be a bit expensive. I'm putting her as main driver on the policy now as I'll be getting a car in the next few months so I can't be main driver on 2 cars in the household.

Any suggestions on who to try for quotes? I've tried Zurich, AXA, its4women, AIG and Getsetgo.ie already

Male 37 Full Licence for 13 years, 13+ years no claims, TPFT on a 99 Celica and my renewal premium this year which will be at the end of september with liberty insurance is €1228.61, on the documents they also list their comprehensive premium at €1314.81

I just recently had a message from AIB about car insurance so just tried a quote, they just quoted €557.18 Comprehensive. which i thought was odd so i tried AXA and they then quoted me €491.24 Comprehensive. What the hell are liberty insurance at 🤨. I also tried fbd but they wouldnt quote online at all.

Weird thing with the AXA page is it wont email me the quote when i click save, it states it has emailed me but nothing arrived. I received the saved 5 day quote from AIB in my email practically instantly when i saved that

Male 72 + wife, Full licences and NCBs, no points.

Quoted insurance renewal for a 08 Golf GTI - increase €610 to €717 - no explanation. AIG on line quoting €513.

Liberty increased my motorbike insurance by 150% last year - switched to Carole Nash for less than previous year.

Been with Quinns -> Liberty for many yearsl Are they trying to go out of business?

Lads, just curious to get a quote on a 13/14 GTI for a 28 y/o but having no look. There's always, or at least there was always some dodgy looking company/site no one's ever heard of who'll quote you on anything even if it costs an arm and a leg. been out of the fake quote game for a while, any suggestions?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,143 ✭✭✭job seeker

I know this will sound like a lot of work, but try all or as many online quotes from this list.

Shopping around is simply the only way!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,143 ✭✭✭job seeker

I went with Zurich in the end for 382.

They offered it then for 355 when I called them today. I told them I had a quote from a different company for 350 (wink, wink) So they offered 343 which I accepted!

    Delighted with this quote!

    Licence 7 years

    1st Renewal Quote (Kennco) - 614

    image.png

Glennons asked me to add a named driver and got the quote down to 541, I then rang kennco telling them this, added a named driver, and they offered 535 which I went with. Would recommend Glennons for quotes in future, they were very good, but the bottom line is price and I went with the cheapest.

    Cheers.

My wife received her renewal from Aviva recently:

    Age: late 40s

Claims-free- max. no claims bonus, full licence 25+ years, zero penalty points

Car is a 2015 Skoda Octavia, comprehensive cover, social & domestic plus travel necessitated by her employment (public service) plus me as a named driver, with my own car covered under my own policy

Quote was €502, up nearly €50 on last year's renewal- we have 3 policies with Aviva- 2 motor and 1 house insurance.

Rang them up and did the usual, max they could offer was additional €15 off. Went online and entered details as a new customer, got a reference number, my wife rang them back and eventually got her cover as a new customer for €367, same cover, same benefits etc. Took an hour or so of our time but well worth the effort for the savings made. I know it's been said before but there is no reward for customer loyalty- we both have claims-free, penalty point-free driving history! After all the time spent on the phone, going over terms and answering all the questions I do wonder how people with a poor or chequered driving history get cover at all! sorry, rant over.

I checked their other site getsetgo offering her 630. But wouldn't let me buy. I gave them a call and they processed it.

    Male. 53.

    2018 range rover velar 2.0L.

    No claims in 32 years.

    Full licence 32 years.

    Chill insurance €2300 with a €3000 excess.

    Van insurance also since 1999.

There is a gap of 3 years in my car insurance from 2018 to now as i had a van only so they put me on 0 years ncb even though I've been driving the van accident free. Not fair IMHO. Its me who earned the ncb not the van but they make no allowance for that.

Fully comp, with limited business miles and indemnity.

Renewal with AIG 345, down from 353 last year. Golfers policy, so 2000E insurance for clubs in car also.

Hardly the promised reduction due to reduced claims, but still a good price, probably check out 2 or 3 other companies nut think it will be hard to beat.

Wife's renewal came in from AiG.

    35y,licence 10+,bonus 10+,3 points since last week(feckin van,she did 107/100)

    Last year 440.

Renewal came at 385€ but when I rang AiG to add points to renewal price went to 480€(!!)

    Aviva came up cheapest:

366€,fully comp, glass, step back, brakedown,me as named driver,3 penalty points added to policy.

Difference with 3 points or 0 points was 17€ with Aviva.349€ would be with 0pts

My son just got his first car, first car insurance :

    18 years old

    2008 Astra 1.4 Petrol

    On 1st Learner Permit

0 years driving in a car, but 2yrs and 2yrs NCB on a motorbike - I'll get to that later....

    Axa: €2,540

    Liberty: €4,700

    AA: €3,300

    Chill: €3,400 - 3,900

    123Go : €2,482 with tracker

    Zurich: No Quote

    Allianz: No Quote

    Aviva:No Quote

I'm kinda annoyed at Liberty though: despite being with them 2 years on a motorbike, having a full bike licence, and advanced assessments as well, they made no effort at all. On top of which I'm with Liberty on my car, and my daughter is with Liberty on her car as well. So much for 'loyalty'.

    Male 39, Leon FR diesel

Comp plus class 1, no voluntary excess.

    Last year AIG €550

    Renewal AIG €520

AIG Website 3 weeks ago €467

AIG Website today €404 - We have a winner

    All the rest......

    Zurich - Wouldn't quote

    Geet set go €450

    Chill €493

    Kennco €470

    Axa €623

    FBD €715

    Allianz €491

    Supervalu €650

    123 €493

    Aviva €718

    AA €555

Some of them obviously don't like the Class 1

AIG are odd. Renewals guy rang me. Told me he could do nothing over the phone and to go with the online ones from them.

My mileage has dropped from last year, WFH 2 or 3 days now and was fulltime out and about so he could have gone in and adjusted mileage.......not allowed??

Your eircode makes a huge change for AXA, I put in the wrong eircode for a 19yr friend I was getting a quote for, 2300 with a full license but almost no experience on a 1.6 a3, the address was a much posher area but apartments, when I put in his actual address, 1360e!

    162 Skoda Octavia 1.6 90bhp

She used to be on a company car so no existing personal policy.

After securing letter from company insurer(a nightmare process in itself, took over 6 weeks) best quote is allianz at €420.

    Not bad, but hassle.

Best quote without any no claims was Zurich at 998.
