45 years old with 10 years NCB and no points.

Renewal from AIG €350 fully comp, new AIG quote €450. Chill came very close, the rest of the gang €500 plus.

How do you get a 10 yr NCB

Is the max not 5 or how does it work

So where does the 10 come from

Some insurers will continue counting up above six but other insurers may not recognise it. I've had eight shown on mine before but moved to an insurer that does six max

Bit of a mad one here

Last year i paid 575, fully comp, mcb protected for my wife and i driving a 2010 megane, got my renewal at 540, got quotes from chill/123 and they came in at 436/437, so i ring Allianz
Gave them my reg and they said 7 seater Grand Scenic, told them it was a megane and had to supply copy of logbook.
They rang me back today, said they'd change vehicle on system and new quote is cheaper due to car, came in at 470, asked them could they match others, within 20 seconds it was 430
Also, they said i've been over paying due to their error for last 3yrs so will be getting a refund

Cheque for 157 arrived today so happy out

    Sorted..but at a cost.

    Age: 30 M
    Licence: 10+years ago
    NCB: 4 Yrs
    Car: is300h
    Location: Dublin
    Zurich: €768

Bit of an increase but not many options since Liberty wouldn't change policy to adapt.- others were coming in at 800-950 as the car is 2.5L engine. Frustrating.

Moving out of Dublin City Centre to the Déise and being charged an additional €40 due to 'address factor'.

    Surely a mistake.

Iv had my renewal come up and had the largest drop in premium I have seen to date.

    Age: 27 M

    Licence: 9 years

    NCB: 5 Years

    Car: 2003 BMW M3

    Location: Dublin

Last years premium: €1,400 with Aviva fully comp

    Renewal: €520

New Quote online: €407 with Aviva

So I saw a 72% drop in premium with the only change being a year older and an extra yaer NCB.

    Age: 24 M

    Licence: 2 years

    NCB: 3 Years

    Car: 2018 Audi A4

    Location: Waterford

Last years premium: €750 with Liberty fully comp

    Renewal: €1200 (still fully comp)

New Quote online: €750 with AA fully comp

Anyone any experience, I got 2 penalty points last year for driving without reasonable consideration and liberty have charged me 100% of my premium for them, like €1,200 isnt that a bit excessive for 2 points?

If your wondering why my renewal is €1,200 thats after my NCB.

They can go f* right off if they think I am going to pay 1,200 for 2 points when AA aren't charging me for them at all (did a check of same quote without points and same price).

Or is that their way of telling me then no longer want to insure me?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,463 ✭✭✭✭CoBo55

Did AA ask what you got the points for? Driving without due care would be frowned upon by many insurers.

Yes they did, they said 2 points for that would not be an issue, careless or dangerous driving on the other hand they said would but not driving without reasonable consideration.

Has to be something wrong here. An M3 for €407?? I pay €150 more for a 318 and I'm 35 with 10+ no claims. Snap their hands off quickly.

I was renewing my girlfriend’s insurance a couple of months ago and decided to check my own out of curiosity and that is the quote that came up. I had to wait a couple of months until my renewal came up and luckily it had not changed. I am truly shocked and paid my renewal a month in advance! I have no idea how or why it’s this cheap, but I am not questioning it!

55yr old with 30+ driving experience and no points and my renewal came in for an 161 Astra at 886e. Hate this time of year and constantly having to shop around. How on earth can that be justified when my 22yr old child fullly licenced, on first time insurance in own name, got insurance for 750e on VW Polo ?

    Gender: M

    Age: 41

    Car: 11 Audi A5 2.0 TFSI (211 bhp)

    NCD: 6 Years

Licence: Full 20+ years, no points

    Cover: Fully comp

Renewal quote: €807 - Boxymo (They won't match prices as they are mileage based quotes)

Shopped around, best I got was €434 on 123.ie

    Went with 123.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,461 ✭✭✭Danick

have been with 123 for past 3 yrs as they send all info and ins disk online - no documents come to my house. Price is the same as always this year - would like to shop around but do you know if any other company send everything online rather than to your home address? I don’t want my other half to know how much my insurance costs - she opens all my post so I may have to stick with 123 - any suggestions greatly appreciated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 251 ✭✭comerla

I've seen a massive drop this year. My quote from 123 last year was €834. I switched after I got a slightly better price through Quote Devil.

    This year -

    Gender: M

    Age: 43

    Car: 172 Audi A7 3.0 (218 bhp)

    NCD: 7 Years

Licence: Full 20 years, no points

Cover: Fully comp with step back

Renewal quote: €539 123.ie. Original quote was €499 with an additional 40 for step back protection.

Just renewed my wifes insurance with me as named driver and after 50 years of experience they want driving experience letters. I have no clue what they are talking about. Anyone else had to do this? This is First Ireland.

Everyone with their low quotes, I've driven before but never done my full. Basically starting again as I never renewed provisional, anyway.

    No, no claims bonus.

    Provisional.

    Driving experience that doesn't apply.

211 Ford Ranger Wildtrak DCab 2.0.

    Fully Comp.

10,800 insurance I got quoted today.
