Hiss/Buzz from HKC SW1070 Transformer

I've a spare SW1070 panel I haven't had running in a long while. I wired a keypad to it and put mains into it to test it. There's a hiss/buzz coming from the transformer. I know the solution is likely to replace the panel altogether, but out of interest, what's causing the noise in the transformer?

Have you checked the transformer is not anyway loose or its not just the position the panel is placed in.
If it is the transformer they can be got seperatly and easily replaced.

Some of the older transformers use to that if a battery wasn't connected.
Can you connect one and see if that works?
