Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/oct/15/conservative-mp-david-amess-stabbed-in-essex-attack

Early reports say that David Amess, a long-standing Conservative MP, has been stabbed several times while hosting a constituency clinic. He was taken to hospital and no news has yet (at time of writing) been released about his condition.

A man has been arrested. No motive has yet been attributed.

Amess is an arch Brexiteer, member of the Leave means Leave group.

He is also strongly anti-abortion, by British standards and generally hostile to any attempts further to liberalise laws regarding LGBTQ issues. He also favours a return of the death penalty and is a leading Conservative Friend of Israel.

However he is fiercely opposed to fox hunting (unusual for a Conservative) and voted against British military intervention in Syria. He has been critical of the earlier intervention in Iraq, although he voted for it at the time.

There is no indication yet that his position on any of the above topics forms any part of the motive for today's assault.

    Story unfolding.
