Rust On Underbody Of 4x4

I thought I'd ask here before posting on the 4X4 section.

I have a 10 year old landcruiser. Going perfect, only 150,000 Km done. I was changing bulbs on it there during the weekend and noticed a lot of rust on the underside. Must be all the salt on the roads. Getting to be fairly serious at this stage.
What is the best way to treat this before it gets too bad?
Are they any well proven methods? I intend to knock another few years out of it, if I can.

Try and find a garage that will Waxoyl it. If they clean off the old rust first, it should keep it right for a couple of years.

Any idea what it costs Neks? I'm thinking of getting it done this summer.

If it's surface rust clean it down and u can get under sealer in motor factors , in a can or if u have compresser it's cheaper that way , local lad here gives me the gun with it , as long as I clean it he had no problem giving it out , from its bad ur as well to place it cause the doe will get u to do it , but u will have to get an accessor to look at it first and after u repair so have it right going in to test other wise it will cost u

My chassis was rotten with rust this year for the DOE , I had to get it welded with an engineers report saying it was up to the manufacturers spec and yer man sprayed it with black stuff to preserve it aswell while he was at it . Total cost was €950 . I should really have tidied it up before this year and the welding mightn't have been as extensive

Better wait until the weather is a bit warmer and power wash the underneath of the jeep several times until it is spotless and wait until it dries out.
Then plenty of body under sealer, there are many types now but i still go with waxoil
Warm the tin in a bucket of warm water before you spray it on to help get into all the door sils and awkard areas.
Waxoil does not corrode rubber bushes etc.
But it is one dirty job to apply it.

if you intend keeping it then better off try get someone to soda blast the rusted areas and prime and underseal again, powerwashing alone will not remove rust and sealing over it will just cause it to spread worse underneath.do it right once as they say

A simular situation to yours but not quite the same. When the drag trailer was tested & passed in 2014 the guy told OH to sort out the few bits of rust otherwise it would probably not pass the test the following year. We decided to do the entire trailer. It took lots of patience, time and I burned out my JCB hammer drill in the process. After stripping off the rust we got a friend to spray the undercarraige/chassis with schults (sp).
When OH brought the trailer for test last year the same guy was testing and he congratulated OH on the excellent job that we had done.

there's a fellow over east clare around clonlara area that's into vintage cars , saw a vintage escort that he undercoated & looked a good job

if you want his details I know a man that knows a man etc, so could trace him down in time

Hi, called to him today. It's 400 Euro, takes two days. He claims that there is two to three hours cleaning first, then drying the inside of the chassis with warm air till perfectly try. Then some kind of primer which drives out ant remaining moisture and then let it dry, then the waxoyl itself is sprayed on and injected in.
