Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Charging a car on trip to NI

    Hi all, travelling up the road to Belfast on Wednesday from South Dublin. Will definitely need a charge. I can see there is a 50kW charger in the Sprucefield shopping Center on the way back home. So does my Irish ESB e-cars account work there?

    in other words if you need to charge away, outside the estate, what’s the best way?

    Your ESB card will work in NI, but the network is very poor since it's free to use at the moment

    I'd recommend charging at M1 castlebellingham on the way and getting as much juice as you can in before hitting the dead zone over the border


    There's Ionity in City North hotel as well, but that's probably too close to Dublin to be useful

    Make sure the app is loaded as well in case your card isn't working

    Thanks for the tips, going to be interacting as I’m in a 58kW ID3. Real world it’s gets about 290km when full. I’m waiting for my ID4 to be replaced which could probably do it up and back

    Castlecourt shopping centre has 7 or 8 free 11kw chargers if you are in Belfast and parking up for a while.

    What happened to your ID.4? Sounds serious if it's being replaced

    I did Noth Dublin to Waterford and back on almost a single charge on my ID.4 77kWh, so Belfast and back should be pretty doable

    I did some playing around on ABRP and a 30 mins charge at Castlebellingham should be enough to get you to Belfast and back down the Ionity at City North

    NIE (Northern Ireland Electricity) is a subsidiary company of the ESB. So eCars exists in the north too. I think it's still free.

    That said, you'd be far better going to Derry than Belfast. It's a far better place :-)

    Just noticed today that there's a 50kw charger at a circle k on the Belfast side of Banbridge. There was a Mercedes jeep charging there today so it must be working ok.
