Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Trump passed over for Nobel Peace Prize

In a move sure to provoke outrage among some Americans, particularly those of the ilk who invaded the Capitol building in January, the Nobel Committee has awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to two journalists who have taken on some serious despots in their own countries (Russia and Philippines) rather than the Peace Maker who brought harmony to Afghanistan, amity to North Korea and carte blanche reassurance to do whatever it bloody well likes to Israel.

Surely they must compensate for this next year by giving the prize to some impudent White House pol corrs who ask leading and impertinent questions of the incumbent president while posing for the TV Cameras in the West Wing. Taking on Dutarte and Putin is one thing but risking death by the swipe of Presidential press secretary Jeen Psaki's razor-like tongue takes real guts!!

So far, four US presidents have won the Nobel Peace Prize since Theodore Roosevelt became the first president, and so far the only Republican, to do so in 1996. Woodrow Wilson, Jimmy Carter and Barak Obama have all hoovered up baubles from the Committee. Trump was nominated by a "right of centre" (to be kind) Norwegian politician named Christian Tybring-Gjedde for his role in persuading some of the most despotic and medieval Arab kingdoms to promise not to invade Israel any time soon, not that they ever had any intention or even potential to do any such thing.

Definite evidence of "left wing bias" in the doling out of such awards.

    Harrumph!!!

I'd say a simple qualification for being considered for such an award is that you don't incite an insurrection of your own government, don't implore your countries Sate Governors to use force on people exercising their first amendment rights and don't gas more of these people so you can have a photo-op with a book you've held (possibly any book) for the first time in your life.

Anyway, #thoughtsandprayers to you at this difficult time.

Turned down (yet again) for a Nobel prize and Biden has turned down his request to have executive privilege invoked for the Jan 6th communications. A very bad week for Trump, may he have many more.
