I think he wants to get on the ball and dictate play an awful lot more than Kante ever did.

For me, he's a weird mix between Fred and Pogba... Which mightn't set the pulses racing.

    And the leaching continues.

BBC News - Manchester United: Glazer family put another 9.5m shares up for sale

Manchester United's 'lack of Covid-19 vaccine uptake among players is seen as problematic within the Premier League and rivals are becoming frustrated' as stars are urged to get their jabs

    • Widespread opposition to Covid-19 vaccines exists among top-flight footballers
    • Only seven Premier League clubs have more than 50 per cent of players jabbed
    • Reports claim Manchester United are not close to getting a fully-jabbed team
    • The rest of the league are said to be frustrated at United's lack of vaccine uptake
    • FIFA, Gareth Southgate and the Premier League want their players vaccinated

That’s disappointing. I think we are being used as click bait to an extent (it seems most clubs are having issues). Wolves are at 100%, Liverpool, Brentford, Leeds and Brighton are claiming to be at over 90%.

It baffles me that the players probably take dozens of dietary supplements, pain killers, etc at the behest of the medical team without any questions, but the COVID vaccine is apparently a step too far.

    Why am I not surprised.

The club really is a total parody sometimes.

While I agree with the sentiment it's a bullshyt article. Multiple clubs are having the same issue but it's United they have a problem with. Such 💩.

Liverpool where linked with him and from what I'd seen of him in Italy i thought wow what a singing he'd be but the other week at Anfield he was absolutely dreadful ,

He was targeted & turned over possession constantly , Now that could have been because of Milan's structure around him & Milan just not been ready for Liverpool to be so aggressive pressing but he got an ear bashing an number of times form his CB's

Henderson literally lost the starting keeper job due to long Covid. If the club can't flex their muscles with regards to something so imperative towards players being available and healthy it shows the lack of authority permiating throughout it. Other teams don't matter, it is an in house problem.

Just goes to show the disconnect the modern day player has with us Joe Soaps, you would think that them players with their profile should be actually promoting the vaccine and telling people to take it, I think if Covid happened 20/30 years ago the situation with players would be a lot different, now teams can train and stay at the training grounds to create these bubbles, back then that wasnt possible, but they should be all vaccinated now and stop the nonsense

Never heard of the off field stuf, what did he do?

Glazership down to 69% … what celebrity billionaire will buy Utd ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 876 ✭✭✭blackwave

Are the shares been sold the voting shares that are actually worth buying or the non-voting ones?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,625 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

Not sure they specified, just another 9.5m shares sold, for a tidy sun of around 140m pounds, and confirmation the club not see a penny of that.

Fingers crossed it's a sign of a sell off, but more than likely just cashing in on the share price post Ronaldo, before the drop from on field performances which will surely follow soon.

It may also be some handy lip service on that promise to make more shares available to fans.

Just checked it's the ones that are not really worth it in terms of voting rights per the below. Glazer's hold all Class B Shares if I remember right, so they hold all the cards if there is ever a possible takeover, even if they sell a bucket of Class A shares they still are in effective control of the club. The below is from their prospectus on the SEC website.

Each Class A ordinary share is entitled to one vote per share and is not convertible into any other shares of our capital stock. Each Class B ordinary share is entitled to 10 votes per share and is convertible into one Class A ordinary share at any time. In addition, our Class B ordinary shares will automatically convert into shares of our Class A ordinary shares upon certain transfers and other events, including upon the date when holders of all Class B ordinary shares cease to hold Class B ordinary shares representing, in the aggregate, at least 10% of the total number of Class A and Class B ordinary shares outstanding. For special resolutions (which are required for certain important matters including mergers and changes to our governing documents), which require the vote of two-thirds of the votes cast, at any time that Class B ordinary shares remain outstanding, the voting power permitted to be exercised by the holders of the Class B ordinary shares will be weighted such that the Class B ordinary shares shall represent, in the aggregate, 67% of the voting power of all shareholders.

if they are allowed saddle the club with debt going in, they should be made pay off a sum based on % sold going out, but thats very wishful thinking

Newcastle being bought by the Saudis.

Really feels as if this was the year we had to win the league. Can imagine adding them to the mix will make it even harder going forward now.

The sad thing is, we don't even need a rich benefactor in order to compete.

With the amount of money we can and do spend, we should be in a title race every year and winning it at least every 3 years.

I'm hesitant to even call Man Utd a club anymore. We're basically a brand, and a money machine for greedy Americans. And we're ran as such, and always will be while they're in charge.

Even if they want to take a cut of the dividends, they could at the very least make some effort to be successful on the football front, but they don't.

I think last year was the year or most aligned one for us in terms of competition to beat.

Maybe we can sell them a few players that we have one obscene wages

    I'd be onboard.

Lived in Australia for a while so the English is probably there, unlike Zidane.

Scandalous if Paul Pogba becomes one of the highest paid players in history.

And embarrassing if the club gives it to him

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 43,004 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

It’s a weird one. Cause I don’t really care if he stays or goes, but him signing a new contract would feel like a big vote of confidence from him. Feels he could go to PSG on a free and get paid big money, AND win a **** tonne of trophies too. Re-signing with us would mean he either believes we can deliver trophies (or doesn’t care about them).

does maintain squad balance issues though, With Rashford back today scoring twice in the behind closed doors game, I can’t see Pogba maintaining the LW spot soon. So back he goes to a double pivot with either Fred or McT…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,474 ✭✭✭Quags

Pogba has the club by the short and curlys, they will pepper him with mad money to stay or he can go somewhere next summer for massive signing on fee & high wage. Personally I rather he left, while he has the moments of magic, I think he has just not done enough for the club. He is a brand to the club

This is a mercenary if true, end goal is to be the highest paid player instead of looking to be winning trophies. Im sure he is already a wealthy man

vote of confidence in what? United's ability to pay him vast sums of money?

he doesn't have a lot of options, the only other clubs that can afford him aren't interested, except perhaps PSG.

The only way this should be achievable should be by heavy incentives such as assists and goals. Perform consistently and you'll get the cream, don't and you won't.

The problem we'll have if we reward him with a stupid basic salary is that everyone else will want it too, Bruno, Rashford etc.

This is an opportunity for the club to take a stand and draw a line under the philosophy of rewarding those that don't deserve it.

If he doesn't like it let him piss off.

Regardless, I want to see him leave at the end of the season, he has been and will forever be a square peg in a round hole.

I imagine this whole PR Release today will end up with Raiola coming out to say United couldn't produce a good enough offer for Pogba and he will sign for someone in Jan but as you said I want him gone also, Bruno has the role Pogba has wanted & Bruno is untouchable so get rid and build a proper midfield instead of looking for brands

When Pogba joined Utd from Juve I was over the moon. Now, considering how his signing has panned out, I can't wait to see the back of him. He has been indulged for far too long.

Please just let him go. The club are better off without him.
