Lunchtime Live on Newstalk has just morphed into "Late Night Live with Adrian Kennedy"

Just heard him there, on about taxi's. I thought he went to news talk to be a news reader?

Wishy washy Coleman on NT Breakfast now wants to ban open fires in private houses now I see. Likened an open fire to be frowned upon in the same way as smoking cigarettes are today (within a few years).

All this on top of his belief that one off housing should be banned and that we should be reducing the national herd.

    He's completely insufferable.

Yeah. It's really a bad sign for the station.

That nonsense has no place between Pat Kenny and Moncrieff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,395 ✭✭✭Patrick2010

I don't get to listen to Newstalk breakfast that much but anytime I do Ciara and Shane start the day with an argument about some topic or other, todays life sentences. Is it not getting a bit contrived at this stage?

Do you disagree with how Newstalk is trying to get people to text in?

Text us on 53106 for 30c and let us know what you think

Coleman really is the pits though. This morning he was almost pushing the narrative that we need to think about murderers who've been found guilty and whether a life sentence is too harsh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 23,248 ✭✭✭✭2smiggy

I've stopped listening to that show because of Coleman. What an embarrassment of a man

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,714 ✭✭✭Azatadine

Yeah, he really is getting worse all the time. . ban open fires, reduce level of farming, ban one off housing, ban development of suburbs in favour of high rises, ban petrol an diesel cars, think about the poor murderer and his feelings....he's insufferable.

He's a clown who lives in clownland. Not living in the real world at all.

Let's see if someone murders one of his family how he feels about life sentences being too harsh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 7,664 ✭✭✭Allinall

That was his point, that you seemed to have completely missed.

You cannot have a fair justice system where sentencing is decided by the victim ( or their family).

Far from being a clown, he backs up his opinions, which seems to be a trait missing here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,583 ✭✭✭leath_dub

The pont is that these conversations with opposing opinions are purely a vehicle for providing revenue via the 30 cent text line. For all I know Ciara might be a wishy-washy liberal and Shane could be a strong advocate of the death penalty. These "arguments " are completely contrived, you can sometimes sense their embarassment as they engage in it

Social Media "apocalypse" has led to calls to nationalise social media.

That's all I heard of lunchtime live before I coukd get to the radio to turn it off.

(Above I posted this was a bad sign for the station. The first article in the sports bulletin "Kylian Mbappé has not made a decision over his future" is equally pathetic. That's not news. If he had made a decision, it would be news. Tabloid nonsense.)

We're gone from dogsh1t patrol to graffiti patrol.

They actually make very little from the 30c texts.

What do people think of the "Home show" presented by Sinead Ryan on Saturdays at 9am, well now its moving to 8am to make way for Anton Savage show?

Its not bad but I really just listen to it for comfort like listening to your mother and aunty chatting when you were a child, you didn't really follow the conversation but you just liked the sound of them talking

I despise the home show, should be on earlier on the weekends or late at night on Thursday. Delighted it’s going.

‘Down to Business’ hasn’t been cutting it either. Was a shame when ‘Bobby’s Late Breakfast’ was cut.

I listen to Radio 1 on the weekends, don’t even switch back for Gavin Reilly on Sunday’s, will be tempted to stick around with this “change”.

I really like it. Think Sinead is a good presenter.

I quite like her in general too. I dont get the impression that she bothers too much about playing games like the NT Breakfast duo. Pretty straight talking and does know her stuff when it comes to financial stuff I feel.

I find her kind of attractive too.

Coleman/Kelly are only baiting contraian views to spark debate & interest on social media.

Many are falling for it hook, line and

Sinead Ryan is like my ideal woman and her voice is great too!

    What a babe she is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,968 ✭✭✭✭EmmetSpiceland

Just to clarify, I’ve nothing against Sinead. I just think the show, itself, is rubbish.

Think she would be better “served” fronting up an early breakfast show.

    Good.

Usual interior design wankery about 'spaces', remember when people just called them 'rooms'?

    Schoolmarm-ish presentation style.

They were in agreement with each other this morning.

I suppose that's contrived as well.

Really dislike Susan Cahill’s delivery when she’s presenting. She does the Newstalk version of ‘Playback’ called ‘In Case You Missed It’. She also hosts ‘Talking Books’ when it’s on.

When she’s reading from a script it sounds like every word was recorded individually and then “stitched” together later in the studio to make sense.

The fella Philip Molloy (movie show) was the same. As boring to listen to as paint is to watch dry.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,295 ✭✭✭rino87

Yeah his style on his own show was pretty bad, but when he was a guest on someone else's he was really really good. I had high hopes for that show when it started.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,714 ✭✭✭Azatadine

What ever happened to Philip Molloy? Is he gone from Newstalk? Fardy annoys me with his constant references to his kids as part of reviews on Cuddihys show. Constantly.

Feck me, that fionnuala one on Moncrieff , the voice would make you throw the radio out the window. She is getting more and more confident, which is making her more and more unbearable. I used to like movies and booze on Moncrieff.
