This is what I think you do

You will have to go through border control to transit to a foreign destination, then please select the “Stay in or visit the UK” option. Since you will have to go through UK border control to enter you are in the UK

    • select ‘Stay in the UK’ under the Your travel plans section
    • reply ‘I will be travelling for an exempt reason’ to the question about whether you are required to self-isolate on arrival
    • select the Exemption options, and then select ‘Transit Exemption’

Your address will be an Irish address and you should be able to demonstrate how you will be travelling immediately out of NI

You still need a valid COVID test prior to arrival if arriving before Oct 4th, if after Oct 4th and are vaccinated then you don't need a test. This assumes you are not coming from a UK 'red' country

Thanks for tjhat it worked.... my info for travel via NI says we need the test after Oct 4....

Travelling to the Republic of Ireland via NI

Applies to anyone transiting through Northern Ireland from abroad for the sole purpose of continuing their journey directly to the Republic of Ireland.

Before you travel to the UK, you must:

You are not subject to day two and eight testing.

You should be prepared to provide Border Force officials with evidence of your transit intention. This may include:

    • evidence of residency in the Republic of Ireland
    • evidence of a hotel reservation for the day of arrival

    or

    • evidence of immediate direct onward travel plans to the Republic of Ireland

If you have been in a red list country in the previous 10 days you need to enter managed hotel isolation.
