Are you actually serious throwing out that stat and saying over a year as if he has been in the team? :D:D:D Quality, tell me this - is Sancho hopeless? Is Bruno? Martial certainly is but it doesn't really stop me having to see him in a United jersey.

Reality is you know absolutely **** all about what he has or hasn't done to warrant a starting spot, and reality is it doesn't matter because we see with the manager he just picks who he picks regardless of how poorly they play. Shoehorning a player into a team is very much right up Oles alley funnily enough.

I don't think anybody thinks Donny is the second coming of anybody, but to see him play in his extremely limited time on the field you can see he retains the ball and passes better than both McTominay or Fred, and his movement off the ball and runs are better than either of them, and indeed Pogba or Bruno for that matter. Bruno is a completely different player, and he has his issues but as he pops up with vital goals/assists they are glossed over.

This is besides the other point, why buy the guy? Why bother like, what was the point? Then after you make that mistake in buying him in the first place, why not let him leave? Offers have been there, if he is so incredibly **** and isn't gonna be part of the plans why not let him go? They let Lingard go last year but Donny is needed to sit on the bench is it? Write it up anyway you want and its hard for the manager to come out it looking like he has a clue - which isn't really much of a surprise, given he hasn't got a clue.

And then Ole speaks out about Donny today, more or less calling him a sulker. It's almost personal with Ole now.

All the while he's gushing over two players who have made it clear they want to leave.

Ole hasn't a clue? Right obviously you'd be a lot better thanks Pep.

Donny will have opportunities and hopefully he can step upto the plate but right now I'm not seeing this supposed superior level player that can improve us. If Ole does get the chop then Donny can have no more excuses and we'll see what he's made of.

Ole struggles with technically gifted players who are used to playing in a system from a young age. Thats why he prefers McT/Fred over Donny and why Sancho looks shyte in his team.

Direct players who deliver in moments like CR7, Bruno, Rashford look great because they're "moments" players.

I see Ole had to already deny in the press conference today that Ronaldo has told him United must play quicker to get the best out of him ,

Probably absolute nonsense but these are the kind of pressure's having huge name players bring to mangers

Of course signing big name players i a good thing but its turns up the pressure on the manager, making it almost inevitable a big name manger needs to come in to deal with the media circus that follows,,

The thing is, with the exception maybe of Ronaldo, those others would all work fine in a more tactical team too; it's not like Olé's lack of direction is bringing the best out of Bruno.

Out of curiosity, is there anyone here who still thinks Olé is the right man for the job? This is yet another slump where the team looks lost and he doesn't seem to know what he's doing. No doubt we'll have some signature victory against a decent side in the forthcoming games that will spark a decent run, rinse and repeat; but each cycle he loses more of the fans. I'd hate to see him become a figure of fun and derision when he's such a hero for what he's done in the past.

I honestly don't know who could replace him, haven't seen enough of Ten Haag; Zidane may just be a luxury version of Olé. But we can't just persist with a manager who is clearly the wrong guy.

It’s pretty much the same as Jose and Shaw at this point. Only at least Shaw was getting game time when Jose was throwing the shade…

It's poor from Ole and has the hall marks of him trying to be the "gaffer". He goes on to say Donny was ready to come on against Villarreal, which implies he told him to warm up as he was going on. Only to come back from his warm up to find Fred doing the chicken dance trying to get ready and trying to find his gear as he clearly wasn't told he was going on.

It's another bizarre statement from Ole and shows the confusion that goes on at the sidelines during games.

for playing so crap recently we've gotten very lucky with opposition injuries.

WHU: antonio missing x 2 - one of their best player

Villareal: moreno missing - arguably their best player

Villa: leon baily and axel missing - baily looks great

Everton tomorrow: no DCL or richarlson - their 2 best players?

this is the start of the tough run of fixtures so 3 points is a must.

given utd have started so poorly for the last year, i wonder who gives the pre match talks? whoever that is, needs to stop. while players should be able to self motivate, a sponge can still suck the life out of these players. there's never any urgency until going 1 down. needs to change pronto

Dan James has more starts and minutes for us than Donny this season and he doesn't even play for us anymore.

Sometimes Ole speaks and you think just stop. Ole was a sub cause at the time we had Yorke/Cole who were immense together so to roll that sentence out is bollox. You couldn't blame VDB for wanting out in Jan when he looks at what our midfield produces. We only ever look solid when Matic comes on but his legs are going/gone This whole thing stinks of Moyes/Zaha

The fact is that Ole has no idea what to do with Donny. It's painful.

He wants 2 grafters in midfield. 2 he can trust to run. he's not fussed with there being a proper footballer in there. he just wants a couple of people who can work hard and protect his CBs.

That's not Donny. so what he's left with is trying to fit Donny somewhere on the pitch, much like when he puts Pogba on the left wing. but he doesn't see Donny as on that level. Donny isn't a difference maker, an individual, someone who takes the ball, dribbles past a couple and sticks it top corner. so we won't wedge him into the team. he's also not a speedster on the break.

Ole just wants a bunch of individual stars who can come up with a moment of magic in any given moment. he's not interest in systemic football. he's not interested in patterns of play. so Donny is pointless for him.

    it's a shame.

Couple that with some of the other comments from Ogen today claiming the Utd coaching staff want the ball transitioned from defenders to attackera much quicker (read - Long balls). Then it's clear they aren't putting much value in midfield play.

Agree. It's looks as if he wants to bypass midfield.

So Ole has publicly insulted one of the players.

And he wants to focus on route 1 hoof ball.

There's two things that JM was torn apart for, wonder will Ole be held to the same standards by those that lambasted JM?

No because the "pragmatic" football now comes with added good vibes

Rashford back to full training today which is great news. Hopefully he isn't rushed back into the squad tomorrow but seeing how Ole managed him last season, it wouldn't surprise me. He should be given the full international break to get his fitness back up to par, maybe play an under 23s game if possible

Honestly, there's no point in wasting energy getting worked up about it.

I've resigned myself to the fact that he's going to be manager for the foreseeable future, until he either resigns or doesn't make top 4.

I still watch the games and support the team, but I struggle to even get excited about all the late winners because I know that ultimately we're on a hiding to nothing.

i dont know of the ship has sailed with donny, but i hope the same doesnt happen with sancho. give them a run of games in their position.

i want to see donny play a few games in a midfield 2 instead of pogba but that wont happen. watch doucoure cut through midfield tomorrow.

if you cant accommodate one player (plus the best 10 after that) into your system to see how they go for about 5 games, and a team of internationals players at that, it's the manager who is the problem.

The late winners should be enjoyed to the maximum. Especially if that’s all there is.

Oh I'm beyond getting worked up tbh, like yourself I've resigned myself to wave after wave of mediocrity under OGS. I'll still whinge about it mind you! 😭🤣

no surprises here but donny will be off in jan if not given serious minutes according to fabrizio romano

Good. Hopefully he shows Ole up and goes and does bits at his new club.

Indeed. He's had more waves at this stage than the pandemic.

Surely though we're almost through the current trough before we go on to another crest. I'm fully expecting him to pull some good results out of the bag in this bollox of an upcoming run, which would be great, to then go back to shíte when the fixtures get easier again, which wouldn't be great.

Wonder which club is willing to pony up the money. We'd do well to get our money back from him.

no chance of recovering the outlay, thats for sure. ajax on loan with obligation to buy for €25-30m is the best i can see.

I'd take that tbh, still can't get over the fact he cost more than Kante.

ten haag to barce at 14/1 seems a good shout, with koeman on the verge of being sacked.

meanwhile utd left holding their dick in their hand with ole.
