I think you need to be a member for most matches, if not all. I recently went to the West Ham match and a few of the lads didn't need a membership to buy tickets but that might just be because its the Carabao Cup. Whenever I've got any for a league match for a friend, they've always needed to have a membership anyway.

I recently received tickets with just the free membership.

If we sack Ole, will Ole come in as caretaker manager?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 21,001 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

i'm ole out, and this question has been asked a few times, who would replace him.

per sky bet, here is the list of favorites:

    Antonio Conte 2/1

    Mauricio Pochettino 5/1

    Brendan Rodgers 8/1

    Julen Lopetegui 10/1

    Laurent Blanc 12/1

    Zinedine Zidane 12/1

    Julian Nagelsmann 16/1

    Gareth Southgate 20/1

    Massimiliano Allegri 25/1

    Ralf Rangnick 25/1

i dont know how any of these managers would fit in as i dont watch them. i also wonder do the hierarchy think having ole in charge may help with trying to get haaland next summer?

basically, i dont have a clue; i just cant see ole being a success.

    edited to add in odds

I might put a bet on. I was raging I didn't bet on Ronaldo returning as I had a hunch since he got restless with Juve that he'd be back. I might take a punt on Zidane.

I genuinely could imagine it. Luckily, I don’t think the timing will work cause he seems comfortable in the England job.

nagelsmann is a non runner there too, cause he just joined Bayern. And Allegri just went back to Juve.

    and no Ten Hag?

Seems like no sign of him....I hope these odds are way off

ten Hag is 33/1 with Paddy Power

I just put a bet on ten Hag. I lobbed a few Euro on CR7 as well as nothing surprises me about him.😂

Why is Blanc always on the list… he played for Utd for basically a week and his legs were made of wood

Do any of you think we would be better off without Ronaldo or Cavani in the team and playing Bruno as a false 9 flanked with Sancho or Rashford on the left and Greenwood or Sancho on the right . That way we could give Pogba or DVB a Free Role in a proper 433 with Matic and Mctominay doing the dog work. Our team is very badly coached at present . Here's an example of what I'm talking about from midfield up. After hearing what G Neville said about the team he would pick its a good thing for him he got the sky job because he would never have made it as a manager

    Matic

    Mctominay Pogba or DVB

    Greenwood Fernandes Sancho

At least we arent Tottenham , Christ . How far we have fallen

He played 75 times over two seasons and won the league. Hardly a week with wooden legs. He was the experienced head that was needed around the club at the time between Stam leaving and Ferdinand signing.

He's in the mix because because he won multiple French leagues and managed France. Hes been out of top level management since 2016 so he's not a target anywhere other than in the minds of bookies who'll happily throw out names and take your money.

Is credited with being a hugely positive influence in his time at the club.

Larry White also won the French league with a club not named PSG/Monaco or Lyon.

He's always on the list because you know who he is. Doesn't have to be a rational choice, just a known name you can loosely connect to and associate with the club.

all 6 english clubs from the ESL are now in the money. uefa have waived the fines imposed after the court case involving barce, real and juve.

The three clubs had argued in court UEFA's attempt to punish them for setting up a breakaway league was against European competition law.

UEFA says it is now "as if the proceedings had never been opened". UEFA will also contact the other nine clubs involved in the attempted breakaway to tell them they will no longer need to pay the fines imposed on them for trying to set up the ESL in April.

I seen G Nev doing his ideal United 11 last night & didn't have Sancho in it,

Baffles me that nobody really has an idea on what to do with United ,they spent 2 seasons & 75 million chasing a player & now don't want him in the strongest 11,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,154 ✭✭✭akelly02

He either isnt that good ( probably) or some people are wrong to not to include in in the starting 11

He has been lauded in here by many as a superstar, which from my experience watching him is crazy .

I will admit i havent watched that many games while at dortmund , but from what ive seen is very in and out .

he is a decent winger, nothing more at the moment.

Considering he was our number 1 target for a couple of years and has produced nothing so far is a bit of a let down for me .

I think this attitude that has become prevalent among United fans has seeped into the actual club. Is Sancho better than having no wingers on the pitch as was the case on Saturday? Of course it is. But Paul has to play. Mason has to be played into the ground because he scored a couple of nice goals.

Fact is Sancho was (I hope) bought to play on the right wing and how many minutes has he played there? 7 games in and is being written off. At 21 and in a new league. Same would have happened to Rashford at that age (sort of did anyway) if he wasn't a youth product.

Meanwhile across town Mahrez can score twice and be dropped because he doesn't fit how the manager wants to approach the next match. Is that a perfect system either? No, but it's a whole lot closer to it than United's where players seem to have a lot more clout than they should be and form goes out the window when certain egos need to be massaged.

I think that's what Pep, Tuchel and Klopp show that Ole is struggling to impose. Their egos are the biggest at their clubs so it can keep the players in check and ensure that they still have that carrot to perform to their max effort. At United Salah and Van Dijk would be running the show by now, at Liverpool they are very well appreciated cogs in the machine.

if he was bought as a RW he needs to play there . simple as.

If he is going to play left, we should have got Grealish, who is a top class player proven in the PL

I have said for a long time whenever i seen him play for England he looks "OK" and that's about it ,

I never seen him at Dortmund to comment but even looking at his numbers he got 8 league goals last season so hard to figure out all this "generational talent talk " ,

I remember a few years ago Batshuayi went on loan to Dortmund from Chelsea and got 7goals in 10 games, German league seems pretty easy when your at a top team.

In saying that Sancho did have one amazing year numbers wise the one before last,

    Here’s the cycle since 2013.

    -Manager hired

-players signed regardless of importance to what team needs (or even if manager really wants them) , always question marks over who decides on signings but manager is blamed regardless cause they don’t come out on tv and say it (or some journalist says it so it must be true)

-players form falls off a cliff , managers fault, team is always considered better then it’s showing, this is man United , standards should be higher and stuff

-When most players (before Bruno) or manager leave their reputations are in tatters and they have to try and rebuild their careers (except zlatan)

    -hire new manager

-Players get contract extensions regardless of form or requirement, some players signed immediately, not clear what role manager plays in either of these things but who cares right?!

Rinse , repeat, ending in “yeh the problem was the manger all along”.. Who chooses these managers?

Meanwhile, Barca, Chelsea , City and Liverpool have all different kinds of managers who are mostly able to at the very least keep their clubs in the top 4 and mount a decent challange every 2 years or so. But if United could just of chosen any other manager but the 4 they have chosen in 8 years, it would of been so much better?!

The only reason the “Ole needs to be replaced” argument holds any weight this season is because it is finally a strong looking squad that you would of expected any potential United manager to of inherited anytime over the last 8 years. This squad really should give it a good lash this season so expectations are correctly higher and a replacement manager would have a better chance then Moyes/LVG/Jose because they would inherit a strong squad.

But pretty much every manager taking over at Chelsea or Barca or City or Madrid, they always inherit a really strong squad and get a few quid to top it up. United managers usually inherit disjointed, unbalanced , demoralised squads , are given a few quid to spend while Woodward fails to offload players who are not needed (and gets f**k all for those he actually can sell cause he gave them stupid contracts) and we are limited in how quickly changes can be made.

And why did Ole get so many top targets in the summer , when so often United managers are left short or with alternative signings? Because of the Super league fiasco. So it’s taken the glazers f**king up , with their arrogant attitude to fans, treating us like sh*te and fans actually fighting back, for them to make the signings any United manager needs (or has needed) to make the squad look capable of challenging proper for top honors.

The fact United has spent so much money and has been so far away from challenging from either of the top 2 trophies is mostly down to the glazers. They are the ones who control finances, who control changes needed, who put people in positions to run the club (including managers) and who decide how the club will be run on the football side. If they are even just copied and pasted whatever it is Chelsea or City or Liverpool do, it would be an improvement. But instead they plough away with their failed way of running the club, with human shields (managers, the goto fallguys in football) protecting them from any meaningful scrutiny. “Yeh club isn’t great but manager…..”

United spends more then enough to challenge for top honors , they should of even fluked a big trophy at this stage. But their clusterf*ck way of running the club is mirrored by how their bucs team broke records in how much they didn’t make the playoffs for over a decade.

Every issue at the club starts and ends with those incompetent and apathetic degenerates at the helm. This is what’s been seperating United on field from comparable spending clubs and other elite clubs. Even look at some of the people posting in here , desperate for Ole to be replaced, they wouldn’t be surprised if the glazers hired a completely inadequate replacement that suited whatever agenda they had at the time.

Fans are like Sam in quantum leap , Trapped in the past, United finds itself leaping from manager to manager, putting things right, that once went wrong and hoping each time, that the next manager will be the one who brings the EPL home.

    What are you suggesting?

Keep an obviously out of his depth manager in his job and waste the best team we've had in 14 years, just because the owners are pricks and our last 4 managerial appointments were terrible, so we should just give up trying to find a good manager?

Is it the Glazers fault that our managers are never able to get the best out of our players, even though we spend an absolute fortune on all of them? We spend the most money in the league bar Man City.

Moyes was an obviously terrible appointment, and he's gone back to what he does best, doing well at mid-table clubs. LVG and Mourinho, while once world class, were both over the hill (one of them was in the retirement home that is international managment, and the other had just been sacked after coming 10th with Chelsea, and both have done nothing since leaving us). But we hired them because they were the biggest name available.

We all hate the Glazers, but it's not their fault that the team is underperforming. It's because the manager, who has been backed to a level that our last 4 managers could only dream of, is clearly out of his depth and not good enough.

What I will blame the Glazers for, is how they've dropped the standards of the club. "Top 4" is now deemed as success and mediocrity is rewarded like new contracts for Ole and Jones, and we'll no doubt give Pogba and Lingard new deals even though they don't deserve it and at any self respecting club they'd be out the door. That filters down into the squad. At Chelsea if a player or manager is underperforming, they're sold or sacked. At United, you get a new contract.

The one thing I would add regarding Sancho's involvement right now is that Greenwood on the right has been imo our most effective attacking player over the last two games (which isn't saying a lot) . I can partially understand why Ole would want to continue to play him out there.

Huge fan of Greenwood the one player i am envious off that United have, I think he is going to be a super star CF ,

United look like a team reliant on magic moments from star players & not team play ,

Is that the manger or the players fault ,The just can't seem to get a style of play or players in sync with each other its very strange,

They still have enough star players to pull out moments most weeks like Ronaldo, Bruno ,Pogba, its the big games id worry about,
