He has done himself proud on his debut whatever happens tomorrow

that was the best session for us and because we got the pairing apart from the Poult/Rory combo which was doomed on Rory's current form.

They have the stronger team, but you can't be throwing points away, like Westwood/Fitz x 2 ......selections are rightly called into question.

Only 3.5 points needed now for the US.

Not looking good at all but get ahead in the first four matches tomorrow and it could become interesting. Very long shot though. Delighted for Shane tonight.

Worst crowd I've ever seen at a golf tournament. Players acting like muppets not helping. Surely there should be some basic rules for behaviour. They would get thrown out if it was any other tournament but here its fine.

I know hindsight is wonderful but good and all as America have been this could have been 1or2 points closer only for some strange pairings from Harrington. How he left Lowry out of the mornings session and kept Casey, Fitzpatrick and Westwood out there. Even Poulter would have been a better pick as he has not played to badly only he has been completely handicap by McIlroy all weekend!!!

Is there any way mcillroy can be left out of the singles...pull a covid joker envelope or injury envelope out of the bag...

    He has been absolute dogsh1t

Only hope for us now is that america backloads their team into trying to make a game of it and a few shocks happen along the way

No birdies and only 5 pars over the last 2 days! That is almost unbelievable.......

That's what I though. That stat popped up on Fox Sports and I thought it was crazy...

Anyone find paddy's demeanour a bit odd.

He looks like a guy who never managed anything and just played golf. ..

    suppose if your being hammered.......

Has he been interviewed at sll ?.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,910 ✭✭✭✭fullstop

Yeah that is unbelievable...because he had at least 12 pars and an eagle in the 2 fourball matches. You can check it on the app

Edit: and 9 pars and 3 birdies in the foresomes.

    That will sting harrington...

He hung his hat on mcillroy...failed miserably

One thing they won't want to mention on Sky (and Butch Harmon) just did, the youth of US team. The conveyor belt of talent coming through. The lack of European talent (Particularly British and Irish) coming through. The fact that Golf is not on Terrestrial TV anymore. Entry Level Golf courses disappearing left right and centre.

We are in big trouble in these parts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,033 ✭✭✭✭Richard Hillman

Timid all week. The cringeworthy hearts and minds stuff with cheese heads and the green bay Packers stuff filled the team with fear of the American fans. Europe only got going when they gave it back.

What was the plan when the American fans did what American fans do? Keep your mouths shut and take it until they like you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,863 ✭✭✭Dr. Bre

Yep. Look at the European tour leaderboards. Most weekends it’s Safricans in contention . Don’t see much coming through Europe to scare the US

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,465 ✭✭✭Ottoman_1000

Ya I was thinking that was a bit to mad to be true, the stat came up on Fox Sports but it most have been mis-printed......well unless I read it wrong!!!!🤣

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,465 ✭✭✭Ottoman_1000

Ya it's going to be very difficult for the European side going forward from here. The age of the US side and the talent that is coming behind them is quite unbelievable.

Fierce late on this, but Berger and Koepka should be ripped out of it for their blatant cheating attempt today. Wont make a difference to overall result, but pathetic. Take the penalty drop if you're concerned. Prime example often aren't liked all that much

    Morikawa vs Hovland

    Johnson vs Casey

    Koepka vs Wiesberger

    Finau vs Poulter

    Spieth vs Fleetwood

    Berger vs Fitzpatrick

A lot of this is pot luck I believe, but putting McIlroy out first is weird!

    I hope i'm tempting fate!

Those pairings give some faint hope I suppose, in fact I believe you might win the session if not the Cup. It will be very warm and not overly windy, a south wind of 10-15 mph that might be sort of variable and swirling around at times.

I am inclined to cheer for Europe in this despite being only a few miles from the border or perhaps because of it. Some of those fans have been a disgrace for sure but this is the trend with this event recently, I kind of prefer the sort of atmosphere they had back in the day. At least some of the U.S. golfers have stepped in and tried to moderate the behaviour. Surprised to see so many packed in together, in nearby states and parts of Canada there is a full-blown fourth wave of COVID going on.

Feel badly for Rory McIlroy, he seems to be in a bad place right now, and he's not a bad guy compared to some pro golfers who are first class a-holes (and this has sort of shown itself here). Just one or two, the Thomas vs Hatton match could actually require police or possibly military intervention.

Those pairings actually worked out fairly well, if anyone can beat Morikawa (other than Rahm) it might be Hovland. If anyone can ignore de Chambeau it would be Garcia. Weisberger probably knows nothing about Koepka which is good, he won't be very distracted. If Westwood could beat anyone on this team it might be English. I heard a good joke ... the reason the USA are winning is they only have one English man on the team. You're welcome.
