Deaf women awarded 5k because there was no interpreter for support acts

Two women who are deaf were awarded £5,000 each for injury to their feelings because there was no interpreter for the support acts at a Little Mix gig.

I know a few festivals have been doing interpreters at gigs. I wonder if it'll become more common post-pandemic? Maybe I'm just poor but 5k is a good sum of money to win imo.

What on earth can a BSL interpretor do to help a deaf person enjoy music?

So if I go see Andrea Bocelli and there is no translation / interpreter provided I could sue MCD or Aitken promotions ?

now does each band / singer have to bring a group of three interpreters, one for the support act, one for the headliners and one in reserve in case of illness or whatever? ...sure, add another 10 quid to every ticket.....to cover their transport, insurance, meals, hotels and their wages...

maybe a blind person wanting to go ‘see’ a film in the cinema should be entitled to a person sitting beside them doing a running commentary...
