Hope you can help we are looking to relocate with our family to sligo. We are a family of 5 and looking at

Ballisodare, what is the primary school like? What's the area like to raise kids. We grew up in Sligo but not familiar with ballisodare but all other areas are very over priced and looking at here..

    Thanking you.

I can't pass comment about the Primary schools, but I'd be guessing they are pretty good. Someone else might be able to advise.

I lived temporarily in Ballisadare about 10 years ago (when in between buying houses). I really liked it there, very relaxed and friendly and close to Sligo town. There was a previous recent thread about renting in Ballisadare which might have some useful comments on it.

We are also relocating to Sligo soon, looking at Tobercurry. Just us no kids so schools etc are not something we need to take into account. It's not a town I have spent too much time in, anyone here got any advice on it?

(Like how to spell it properly 😂)

Hi, What are you looking to know about Tubbercurry? (Housing shortage with demand means renting options are limited)

Moreso looking to buy and have an eye on a house there (Fairways) but don't know much about the area/town. The estate agent told us there were a few messers around the place but nothing you wouldn't get elsewhere. Not sure what his idea of a messer is - causing carnage robbing houses or a few teens hanging around in street corners!

Fairways has apartment blocks to the front, not ideal. It also has high renters (less inclined to look after a place compared to home owners, generally)

Yes it has some locals that are not ideal neighbours but overall its not a bad town these days. Garda station is getting an upgraded so having an improved response time will help.

It has areas to avoid (northside) & ones to buy in (southside)

Has supermarkets, hardware stores, garages all on the door step & has good broadband.

Thanks @BronsonTB that is helpful. We're still in the looking stages but there is very little on the market in Sligo generally in our price range unless we want a 'doer upper' that we'd be doing up for a long time 😨

Will you be comuting from Tubber? If so be aware it's 80k limit from Sligo all the way to Curry now. Slow road during comuting hours.

New by-pass of Tubber is in the pipeline but only at the route planning stage so long finger stuff.

You do get more than in Sligo town as property is very expensive for what you get at the moment.

Don't buy in Tubber thinking you'd resale to move easily.

But if you can work from home & want somewhere affordable with village life then it's not a bad spot to be in.
