Yep that's already happened. The rates on any of the new smart meter packages are outrageously high.

I've long given up hope of any decent FIT. Instead I installed a large home attached battery (powerwall), even more solar PV and I use almost all of it myself. Bought a second EV as well, which is now pretty much exclusively powered by the sun.

No, home made. About the same capacity of a Tesla Powerwall but at a fraction of the price 😂

Some movement. There's an announcement that there is going to be an announcement in the next few weeks..

    Only mentioned the CEG

This is the unrestricted, non subsided one that was in the proposal.

(Which is all anyone with a current install was going to get anyway!)

    There's a shock!

Daylight fading and they'll implement it. They were never going to roll this out for summer when they could avoid a year's worth of rebate

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,115 ✭✭✭✭unkel

LOL, glad I wasn't relying on one for this year. Instead I bumped up my home battery to 10kWh and my solar PV system to almost 8kW just before the start of summer. I've used I'd say 90% of the production myself and not for charging the car or heating the water either 😁

    LOL

A proposal, it is intended, It is expected, developing...

All wooly political language, won't be holding my breath on this one. The Mantra remains to ignore FIT and design for self-consumption

    Only mentioned the CEG

They did include this quote which is the CEP and is interesting because it uses the word "may"....

"... which may include grants or premium tariff payments for new installations, will be submitted to government later this year,” the minister added."

Also interesting that he has passed the buck entirely over to the CRU...

"This framework will outline the approach to the rate of remuneration under the CEG, as determining such matters is the responsibility of the CRU."

shocker, so the dept's consultation was just a jaundiced PR exercise, which the folks in the CRU may and will duly ignore, who will then kick off their own internal research, mastication, idea bashing... headbang, we really could do with some china-style dictatorial efficiency here!

From the Houses of the Oireachtas: Parliamentart Questions 16 Sept

The Programme for Government commits to expanding and incentivising micro-generation to help people generate renewable electricity for their own use and sell excess electricity back to the grid.My Department outlined proposals for a new Micro-generation Support Scheme (MSS) in a public consultation that closed in February last. A summary report of the submissions received has been published on my Department's website. While the primary aim of a micro-generation scheme is to enable a household to meet its own electricity needs, it is intended that a suitable payment for excess electricity generated on site and exported to the grid will be available to all renewables self-consumers later this year, subject to regulatory arrangements, and in line with transposition of Articles 21 and 22 of the recast Renewable Energy Directive. My Department is engaging with the Office of Parliamentary Counsel on transposing these Articles into Irish law and it is envisaged that this will be achieved before year end 2021. It is expected that the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) will publish a draft framework in the coming weeks which will outline the details, including eligibility criteria and timescales for introduction, of the Clean Export Guarantee (CEG) payment for exported renewable electricity. This framework will introduce an obligation on all electricity suppliers to offer remuneration to their customers, by way of a payment, for excess renewable electricity exported to the grid by eligible micro- and small-scale generators. This would give effect to the above-mentioned articles and allow for the commencement of export payments to micro- and small-scale generators, by their suppliers.

They'd want to get a move on. It's mid-sept now and the draft hasn't even been published for review/comment. That process usually takes weeks in itself.

I have just had a solar pv system installed and was looking to see if any of the energy providers were offering feed in tariff rates.

As I am with Energia this year I checked them out and see they have a plan called Grid which is more expensive than the plan I am on.

But this is of no consequence as my system was not installed by Energia I am excluded from this deal.

How many thousands of people have solar pv in this country, are we all to be denied access to FiT.

Rip off Ireland is still alive and kicking. My next email will be to that dope Eamon Ryan.😡
