Ehm, I just got quoted from a main VW dealer €229 for a minor service or €429 for a major service... WTF!!!

Some mistake there surely unless there are additional items on the list.
Skoda's version of the above (same service routine) is €159 and €219.

Depends on the vehicle, main dealer menu prices are 179 minor/ 299 major for any petrol or diesel 1.9 or smaller. There is a 39 surcharge on 2.0 stuff. Commericals and the 3.0 in the Touareg and Amarok should also have their own pricing.

Prices you are quoting sound like menu pricing for a Touareg, T6 or a Crafter?
