According to NBI's Peter Hendrick at committee 3,000 premises were added in Dundalk yesterday

Any idea on what areas will be live as part of the 60,000 premises this year ?

No one knows for sure, but looking at the dark and light green DAs here https://nbi.ie/where-are-we-working/ and check the availability estimate of each should give a general idea

Just had a call from KN scheduled for install on 1st October

    Limerick area

Just seen a neighbour has KN van working on their house today, hopefully we'll be able to pre-order soon too. They have Carrigaline down on the nbi site as ready to connect but there are still hundreds of houses in the network build in progress phase here and not due to be connected until Dec-Jan. It wouldn't surprise me for the date to change a seventh time and get pushed back again.

Came home from work yesterday and found this installed on "Our Pole" Anyone reading this that can tell me how long after this was installed for them was it before installation to premises?

edit Sorry its on its side but you get the general idea

6 months maybe...I was in the first DA and it took that long (if not longer I can't remember) but they could be rolling out faster now. Don't panic you are in a lot better position than the vast majority of the population.

Ballinasloe DA has moved from Pre-order to 'Ready to Connect' in the last couple of days.

If you are showing preorder thats even better!!! it might only be a month or two at the most before you get connected.

Get straight on to one of the providers they linked on their website and get the preorder going and once you are live they will get you connected. Go with the likes of Digiweb or Pure as they are actively trying to get NBI customers and taking the pre-orders. Eir, Vodafone etc might not be too pushed or have systems in place for pre ordering.

Just had our dates pushed out again 😣

Has now gone from original Sept-Oct this year to Apr-Jun next year. It's beyond ridiculous how incompetently this project is being run. It's a farce!

The NBI CEO claimed new fibre connections freed up capacity on FWA services like Imagine (making them better). I don't suppose Imagine would agree.

This means we are getting a great adoption of customers, particularly with some of the wireless operators. Some of their customers are transitioning from wireless to fibre. The net impact is that they are freeing up capacity on their own network. This means that retail operators are delivering a better service to customers who may not fall within an area that we cover today but who are just outside it.

    Email received from Eurona Brisknet:

NBI have now passed 20,000 premises with the new fibre roll-out with 108,000 premises currently under construction. However upon running a check on the status of your build (estimated timeframe) it would now appear it has been delayed to Jan 2022. These estimated dates (All available through www.nbi.ie) are sometimes pushed back or even brought forwards. Yet we wanted to let you know we are eagerly waiting for the premises to go live provide you with this fantastic new service.

I have a suspicion he was referring specifically to providers who offer both fibre and FWA solutions 😉

Exactly that, has Imagine signed up as an NBI retailer yet?

Just the other day, I came across a work crew and digger in the arse end of nowhere laying a cable for about 2 kms to a holiday house. National Broadband Plan, I kid you not. Impressive :)

    Hi guys

This is my first time commenting on the NBI via the boards forum, Ive been reading it for a few months and I find everyone's experience very informative. I empathise with those who have received bad news on their connection date, its a very deflating process for the whole family, especially the kids.

could someone help me out on this one?

Im in Co.Monaghan and I recently got my status changed at long last to "proceed to order" with a going live date of September 30th, however, when I select my chosen service provider " VODAFONE" they say they cant accept my order, for what ever reason,  can anyone enlighten me or how long a time is elapsed before they will proceed with orders?  thanks folks

DP's being installed on poles at the mo here.

Asked when go live would be, lad said month or month and a half. Reckon he guessed though.

prob arent setup to preorder, until they update their checkers that your eircode is green lit to order, that may happen on the week your area goes live to order but may not. depends when voda update their system

Have you checked with any of the other retailers listed on the NBI website?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6 GreenJedi

Yes, I've tried it with all the other providers listed (Sky, Eurona, Net 1, Black Knight & Digiweb), and they are all accepting pre-orders except Vodafone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 16,246 ✭✭✭✭The Cush

Barra's comment is probably spot on, big company ... will get to it eventually.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,261 ✭✭✭xxyyzz

Don't bet on it. Those lads are subcontractors, they have no knowledge. I've had the DP installed for months and I thought we'd be good to go shortly after that but we're still at network build in progress. I think they have to finish the whole DA before they activate the network rather than activating individual sections as they are finished.

Comical stuff from NBI this morning. Part of the Tipperary DA (currently in build stage)

Was recently pushed from July->August to September->November to December->Feb range

NBI website confirms both the DA and my specific Eircode for the Dec->Feb range

Got an email from NBI this morning saying my Eircode was in "Survey" stage (even though I've fibre on the poles outside my house), and my estimated connection date is September 2023 - November 2023.

People are going to be so confused if they have multiple sources of truth

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,323 ✭✭✭lukin

Just got an email notification from NBI confirming the above:

"We estimate that the premises at Eircode <myeircode> will be connected between January 2025 - December 2026."

I sent a mail to contactus@nbi.ie telling them what I thought of this in short and not too very complimentary (but polite) terms. Not that it will do any good, I just felt like venting.

im in the same boat, but like others have said, some of us have to be at the back of the queue.

Luckily I’m having good success (15mb, low latency) with my fixed wireless broadband through a local radio tower (have no idea have that technology works)
