There’s something seriously suspect as to that new watch. The more I see, the more I’m convinced there was an absolutely massive issue with a whole new model that looked like the leaks.

Also funny, how many people like myself were happy just to have a redesign without other sensors etc. Wasn’t super convinced about the rumoured look, but I’m just bored of the same old design.

My guess - and I'm by no means an expert - is this was Apple's plan B. The chip shortage is in play here and Apple just couldn't get TSMC to build the Series 7 chip in the quantities they wanted in the time frame they wanted. It using the same processor as the Series 6 and the fact it's not available "today" are massive clues.

One good thing to come out of this is watchOS 8 will run just as fast on my Series 6 so it's effectively gotten another year of life tacked on to its life-span.

I’m not sure to be honest. I’d consider myself close enough to an average user.

My average screen on time is 4 hours, never let the batter get into the red.

The Apple Events just are not as fun to watch without the old crew like Phil Schiller, Eddie Cue, etc.

I’m very surprised at how they breezed passed the Apple Original series and movies. I would have skipped myself as I don’t like trailers or clips but I would have expected more of a whoopty-do.

What is the Marvel game that was used in the iPhone 13 Pro segment?

And in the segment with Katheryn Bigalow, are those real shows and movies they show?

As others have said the last few iPhone releases have really struggled to generate much excitement outside of those are deep into tech and Apple. I'm on an 11 pro max and would normally be looking at upgrading this year, I might still upgrade but I'm not as enthusiastic as I'd normally be or trawling the likes of Macrumours to see what people are thinking.

It continues to disappoint that Apple don't offer the iPhone upgrade program over here, would happily sign up to that and upgrade each year but when that's not available and the trade in program is so bad it makes upgrading from a newish model a real pain.

Yeah if the trade in was offered here I’d have upgraded no problem.

The only real thing is the camera, fair enough battery life looks a good bit better than my 11 pro but I'm happy enough with the camera and it's still more than fast enough, the days of needing a faster phone with more storage are gone, so what's left, battery life and camera ? I'm still more than happy enough with the camera on my 11 pro, battery is around 86%.

Worst of all is the 325 Euro apple want to give me for trading the 11 pro.

This is kind of true for all flagship smartphones, the minor improvements just don't justify the upgrade to the new model.

Not to mention the budget mid range phones continue to close the gap.

Who needs 1tb of physical storage on a phone? It's pure marketing blurb.

I agree, look at a Samsung Galaxy S20 and S21, a year on year improvement just like the 12 to the 13 (in fact the S21 is worse in some cases than the previous phone).

I'd disagree that 1TB storage on a phone is marketing blurb. Yes there's no need for it now or only for a small subset of people who'd use an iPhone as a 4k cinema camera but they need to keep pushing this forward, remember the iPhone 4/4S/5/5S/6/6S era all came with a measly 16gb (even at the time it was rough), whilst 1TB won't be that measly, we can't end up in that same situation 10 years from now 🙂.

Disappointment here too. I was also hoping to upgrade my S4 to S7, but not too sure now.. I will see what my humour is like on launch day. I don't care about ProMotion so I guess my 12 PM will survive on another year, also I really was (as sad as it may sound) hoping for a properly black iPhone again, this graphite colour is weak.

Mine has dropped to 92% so far not happy about it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,648 ✭✭✭Micky 32

Mine is down to 95% on my 12 pro max. I Have the phone since launch day. It seems to hold better than my old 11 pro max. That was down to 89% for the same age.

The 13 pro’s are a significant upgrade imo. Better brighter 120 hz screen with a smaller notch. Improved cameras. Better battery life etc.

Lads don't get too hung up on the battery health percentages, it will unlikely get to a point where it will adversely affect your usage of the device. You'll most likely upgrade before it will and if you don't a battery swap is very reasonable anyways.

Thing is not to charge the battery to 100% all the time, charge to 70 or 80%, Charge to 100% only when needed.

Mine is at 86% after 2 years nearly but charges fast enough so it's not really a big deal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,648 ✭✭✭Micky 32

Yep. Even though my 11 was down to 89% i hardly noticed any difference..

Apples trade in prices really don’t help either. No interest is going to the 13 as I have the 12 pro max but they only offer 485€ for it.

Last phone was the 6s so won’t be changing for ages anyway.

Surprised people dont see the 120hz screen as a major feature. TBH its the only reason I want the phone, everything else is meh! Its the biggest change to our visual engagement with an iPhone since the 'Retina Display'.

I charge to 100% every night and my just turning two year old 11 pro is 89%.

Same here, i also charge my iPhone 11 to 100% every night, for the last two years and its battery health is 88%

It’s the only reason im considering an upgrade from a 12. I went with the standard 12 last year with the intention of maybe upgrading it 120Hz came with this one. Although it’s something I’ve personally wanted for years so just glad it’s actually here. The rest of the changes are a bit meh.

I normally upgrade each year on launch. This year I’m not sure. Battery and pro res. The camera I just don’t make use of. Plus looking like the chip is a weak upgrade also. Might change my mind by Friday 😀

I wish Apple would give up that stupid lightning connector........

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 637 ✭✭✭CptMonkey

Is the iPad after changing to usb c or did I pick it up wrong?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,779 ✭✭✭✭whiterebel

I don’t. The only thing i have thats usb-c is my MBP. Everything else is lightning. To use anything with the MBP I have to use adaptors, PITA.

iPad mini, iPad Air, iPad Pro are all USB-C. The standard iPad (that uses the Apple Pencil v1) is still lightning.
