Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Ive have a Classic Impreza and want to get the underneath all fixed up and sealed so its protected. They are know for rusting as can see the tell tale signss.
    I am thinking of getting these guys to do it as them seem to do quality work at a good price 40/hr

    Mig welding daily rate at 300+13.5% vat seems reasonable enough
    Approximately about 50 euro an hour.
    And 80 euro per patch does not sound excessive.

    But you get a better idea on budget if you get a specific price, for a specific repair.
    But its hard to get that.
    Lets say a heater channel on a beetle at 300 euro may sound ok. But your beetle needs to be
    ready for welding in the channel straight away.
    No point in delivering a beetle with a rusted out channel, and expect to get a new channel in for 300 euro,
    ans expect the old one removed into the bargain.

    Thats why a specific price for specific work gives you a better handle on your budget.

    I have seen numerous projects unfinished because of misunderstanding over pricing. Its a quagmire.

    And with rust u can only see what's in the surface and there isn't any way of knowing what's under it.
    More interested to know if anyone here has used them and what their experience was.

    Slightly off topic, apologies for bringing up an old thread. What sort of paint are people using for chassis/under body of their classic cars after welding?

    If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

    I've not had to do any welding yet (touch wood) but have peeled back some old underseal and cleaned off surface rust. Then zinc primer (3 coats to be sure) and this underseal.

    Thanks Mr C, went with owlatrol oil, brushed it on, left it to dry for about 2 days. Then put about 5% owlatrol in an old can of black rustoleum paint I had left over from another job and brushed that on top. Will see how it goes.
