Laptop for light gaming/web browsing - Budget €500-€700

Hi,

I wonder if someone could help recommend a laptop for some light gaming/web browsing. Will also be used for some school/collegework but no particular system requirements for this. Budget around €500-700. I've seen some recommendations on previous threads and missed out on some deals (which for some reason I'm having diffculty linking to - example below (Asus Vivobook). I haven't bought a laptop in a few years so am a bit lost on Amd v Intel etc. Any advice really appreciated.

It really depends on your definition of light gaming. What sort of games will you be playing? There are huge differences in the graphical capabilities of the machines you've posted so far.

ok... for some actual advice ... go for the acer swift 3 11th gen i5 - not the i3 one listed

the 11th gen i5 has XE graphics and the swift 3 runs the cpu at a high TDP (wattage level) effectively for light gaming - even recent/modern games at 720p once you're not expecting 60fps

the i3 does not have XE graphics

that's if you want a portable laptop

the aspire 7 with the dedicated gpu will handle more demanding gaming obviously if that's what you want but it's over 2kg so not very suited to lugging around

Thanks for the steer - I eventually went for a Lenovo 3i - kind of a mix between a (semi) portable device and one that should be able to run half decent games. Came in with a 10% discount - thanks for the steer on that btw for signing up to the newsletter. I couldn't stack the discounts so there was approx €100 off the €800 price and there was a further €200 cashback which kicks in after purchase....so all told approx €500. Appreciate the help.
