I like to get the tins, rather than the tubs- I'd have bought the tin of Lindor last year if they hadn't been twenty feckin' euro!! 😮

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 11,380 ✭✭✭✭DvB

yeah that was a bit OTT. We ended up getting some of their boxes instead, amazon had a great deal at the time in fact that made a mockery of the price of the tins.

Yeah, I got a big box of the regular lindor and a big box of the hazelnut ones, for much less than a tin would cost. Plus the tin has white chocolate ones in it and I wouldn't even eat those, ick! 😂

😂 we are still doing home improvements with lockdowns and a new baby we are behind so that with plenty to do and getting everything for the big day with our little girls first Christmas it’s gut wrenching 🤣 but I have you Elves on here to know I won’t be alone

on the upside some home improvements in the sitting room will give me new alcove units that leaves plenty of room for new Christmas decorations to decorate them 👌

I was in Tesco earlier, and not only did they have the tubs of sweets (2 for €10), but they also had selection boxes for sale. I don't think the selection boxes are usually out this early. I even overheard two staff members talking about how early it is for selection boxes.

When I was in secondary school in the mid 2000's they were normally a few out when we went back to school.

We are thinking of getting a new kitchen before Christmas. Not 100% decided however need to decide in the next couple of days. Will take up a lot of time so need to have it done by early Nov at the latest to not interfere with Christmas!

So if i carry the 1, divide by half, multiple by pie...........you are in your 30s 😂

@TRS30 30 next year.( It's a bit daunting to be honest).

I got my kitchen done the second week of November last year, and just about had the place sorted by early December (stone worktop takes 2/3 weeks) so yeah, definitely wouldn't go any later! It was great having a brand new kitchen when Christmas rolled around though. 🙂

Ditto with us for 2019. Though TBH I'd be amazed if you got anyone available to do a kitchen this side of Christmas, we took months to get ours sorted and the lack of tradesmen at the moment is definitely having an impact.

I have a very distant memory of turning 30. It's not as daunting as turning 40 🙁.... or buying 50th cards for your friends 😖

I've been to two mates 60th birthday parties... have my own 50th in the new year too.... 30s is still kidulthood 😆

Apologies Elves I know it’s off topic but Posy would you recommend the stone ? I’ve made the decision for stone but just wondering

New Kitchen happening here too, appliance, sink and floor shopping today fingers crossed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,865 ✭✭✭TRS30

I must have used the wrong kind of pie 😂

Don't worry at 30 you are still fresh, waiting till 50 is on the horizon!!

Yea, definitely don't want to leave it any later than end of October as we have a few family things on in November which always seems Christmas is on us before we know it!

The guy in the kitchen place yesterday seemed pretty confident that end of Oct for fitting was OK. I hope he isn't telling me porkies to get the business!!

Well as an example, with us in 2019 we chose everything we wanted in terms of units, taps, sink type, colours, layout (significant changes to that to be fair) appliances etc in July/early August, and the strip out & install started the second last week in October, last few bits like tiling (which had to wait until after the stone countertop was installed) was the end of November. Then we had to get our floors installed. We literally finished it the day before the late late toy show & put the decorations up that day too... we only saw the kitchen look finished in its normal state in January 2020 when all the christmas decorations came down.

Don't underestimate refurbing a kitchen. Though it does depend on to what extent, if its a case of just changing units but keeping the layout the same it'll be a little less complicated.

😍 another Christmas Market going ahead this year!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,865 ✭✭✭TRS30

Totally. Something similar happened with the last big refurb we did, it went way over time and was only done just before a pressing deadline.

Am going to stay over all of this one and do everything i can to make sure things happen on time. If ends up running into Nov is not a disaster however the longer it goes on the more the stress levels will rise!!

This chat is putting the going on me to do our kitchen 😋 We have a great view from one end & I've a real desire to blow out the wall and have a larger window. Would mean moving our hob though & I'd ideally like to put our sink where the hob is now. House is only 6 years old though so don't really want to do my kitchen again as there is nothing wrong with it.
