Suitable book for one year old birthday present?

My nice turns one soon and I was looking at buying a couple of books for her. I've no kids myself so aren't sure which ones are suitable. They don't seem to have any age guidelines on the ones that I've seen. Any suggestions?

But basically look for board books of colours, words, numbers etc

Chris Haughton's books are really lovely, get the board books as they can stand getting battered/chewed/spilled on.

Julia Donaldson & Nick Sharrot's Toddle Waddle, Hippo has a Hat, Goat goes to playgroup. All very popular in this house, again I prefer the board books.

I’ll echo the board books. I really like the acorn wood series, they are lift the flap books. Foxes socks etc I have the whole series and they are my ones favourites.

also really like on the farm by Alex scheffler, it’s a push, pull and slide book and lovely pictures which I find helps with new words.

where’s spot is another classic that I really like.
