Ireland’s most ‘Father Ted’ tourist attraction

"The Wonderful Barn" in Leixlip. The name alone makes me think of "The Magic Road" on Craggy Island.

Sort of a tourist attraction in theory, and mostly gets mentioned in Leixlip due to the few other landmarks there being generic grand houses (that are usually off limits). The Wonderful Barn is wonderfully placed as far away as you can get from Leixlip Village while still being in the Leixlip area, and is wedged between housing estates and the M4.

Apparently built as a "folly" to provide work during the Famine and appears to mark a boundary to the lands of Castletown House in Celbridge. (You'll see a tree line go directly from that house to the Wonderful barn on Google maps)

And then there's Croagh Patrick

The magic Road in Waterford. I imagine the inspiration behind the actual magic Road in father Ted.

In defence of it, I've been on it and released the handbrake. And it really does feel like you're rolling uphill. It's really cool. I obviously did it a few times and recommended it to people as something to do in Waterford.

The Seven Wonders of Fore in County Westmeath include, the monastery in the bog, the mill without a race, the water that flows uphill, the tree that has three branches, the tree that won't burn, the water that won't boil, the anchorite in a stone and the stone/lintel raised by St Fechin's prayers.
