Looking for affordable accommodation near Salthill-is it possible?

Hi all, started a new job near Salthill the other week and would like to get accommodation near enough to that area. I was checking out b and bs (to stay for the time being) in Salthill and they all seem very expensive, nearly like hotel rates. Regarding longer term accommodation, would the likes of Spiddal/Barna be ok for commuting and affordability? Have heard Knocknacarra also an option. Commuting from Mayo atm and dreading crossing the city when all schools get back next week. Thanks all.

Spiddal/Barna is a huge pain in the arsé traffic wise.

It would be and you'd potentially be on the 401 bus route but again traffic delays will make your bus journey longer and less reliable. We live on the 401 route, as long as you use the real time app and give yourself enough additional time for traffic delays it's definitely doable. A bike from this side could work too.

Ah no! Well yes it may be cheaper, but you'll pay in commuting time.

Live on the same side of the river as you work is the basic rule.

Spiddal/Barna is a pain, but still possible. Especially as you're not crossing the bridge. Knocknwcatra, Westside, Newcastle, Rahoon and the city centre good too.
