Very little to be found online on the 932 but I got that impression too about the crystal

I did get a pretty decent deal. My one was the cheapest of 3 they had for sale by quite a margin (there were only 388 made of this watch - Panerai Boutique only, no discounts, I think £8k retail). WF had my old Panerai 196, which was very slow to get a final offer. When I called them saying I was interested in the 932, things got rolling and a deal was done within hours. They upped the offer for my watch by €250 and dropped the price for the 932 by €500, but that was it then, no further negotiation. Making the deal comparable to the cheapest 932 on chrono24 (a private sale - I had been in contact with the seller but he upped his price - twice! - while we were having contact). The watch from WF also comes with a "new" 2 year warranty and a lot of peace of mind compared to buying privately

Also just got a call from a lovely lady in WF Paris that they received my watch from Hong Kong this morning, will send it on to me today so I will have it in the next 24 / 48 hours. They rang just to confirm address. Very excited now 😎

Hopefully, this will give you some indication of crystal and dial until the 932 arrives. This is the 946 model. Similar to 932 except P4002 in-house auto movement and additional complications - which I appreciate some do not like and prefer the plain dial, but each to their own! Case is also slightly smaller at 45mm compared to the 47mm 932.

    Maybe a better picture.

Make sure to check if the watch qualifies for the Panerai 8 year manufacturers warranty. See Pam.Guard on Parerai website and register. Very straight-forward process and well worth doing.

I can't seem to be able to register on instagram. It gets so far and then seems to think I'm a spammer and locks me out. It's probably right. 😁

I had difficulty too, until I realised it is owned by FB and you can log into Instagram with your FB account. I never post on FB either but it is handy for reading some very specific forums and for buying and selling stuff. And I'm immune to whatever ads they throw at me, have most ad blockers switched on anyway too (as I use mostly on PC, not on mobile) and I'm not that bothered about personal privacy.

Feck, I'm not on facebook either. 😁 I'd rarely go on the interwebs on a phone myself. Old skool..

    Folks,

Just curious on peoples thoughts - im consider trading two watches i have for a Rolex Explorer. Im thinking of having a 2 watch collection of my Seiko sla043 dive watch and the explorer. A gshock for a mowing the lawn and washing the saucepans. The height of my rough and tumble.

Both watches im thinking of trading are probably worth north of 4k and 3k. Where would my best bet of trying to do a deal be? I could sell both on the likes of adverts.. or chrono24 or maybe go the watchfinder route and see what they would offer me and if they could source a 39mm explorer for me?

    Cheers,

    Mick

    Watchfinder.

You will have to sign up with them, then offer your watches for sale and indicate which of their Explorers they currently have for sale you are interested in. Once WF have confirmation that they received your watches (in France these days), ring their sales team. If you eventually can get through to them, they can make things move.

I wouldn't bother with a G-shock for mowing the lawn of washing the dishes. The Rolex and the Seiko can easily handle that (as opposed to watches like your moonwatch, which is probably one of the two you are trading in?)

yeah watchfinder only offering 2750 for the moonwatch...could probably exceed that easily locally

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,642 ✭✭✭✭unkel

Of course. That's a pretty decent offer in my book but as always, they need to make a profit on your watch so they try and offer you lower than you could sell it for locally and then sell it on for higher than you could buy it for locally. Very much like trading in your car...

Beware though, WF can easily make a final offer below the bottom of their initial estimate range. What are you going to do then, demand them to send it back to you and you will be back to where you started? With a bad history with WF? It also costs €47 to send a watch to France by registered post and it will NOT be insured for that sum. Also the process could take many weeks.

Thanks - probably my best route like when changing cars would be to sell privately... maximize my return on what i have and then buy directly again.. its just a thought... probably not going to act on it any time soon

Moonwatch is a popular watch, an ideal one to use in a trade with WF. You'd get relatively more for it from WF (compared with a private sale) than pretty much any other watch (Rolex sports excepted). Yours has been for sale for a while for only a few hundred over the WF offer. I would take them up on it. There is also some room for negotiation once you show your interest in buying another watch from WF

What's the other watch you are thinking of throwing in?

Another option is a trip to Belfast (Pride & Pinion)

i need to relist my speedmaster... its now boxed with a service and in mint condition so different animal..

Speedmasters aqlways sell, always good trade in pawns. Have you tried an explorer? Talk to unkle he will give you the unfiltered (read not the bark and jack) take on it. Expensive watch these days.

its certainly overpriced . I think the 41mm OP is better value , and a nicer watch on the wrist if in a dial colour other than black

Lovely watch. Wouldn't be for me but I was intrigued. I have a trade contact in Ireland who would likely buy it if you were interested.

Most of them go for far above retail! The light blue on is the nicest of them all (I have said so since the day it launched to much ridicule from the forum) and goes for above twice retail. The only other Rolex that manages that is the Daytona. Super popular these OP. Would fancy one myself too.

Well looks like P Diddy has been reading boards and has weighed in on the Richard Mille thing. This could actually do more to damage the brand than anything else.

Black man save your money and go buy a house nails it. Fair play. He's long noted how Black artists and sports stars have been overcooking it on outblinging each other on the back of record deals and the like and that it's transitory for most of them and when they come out the other side the bling doesn't taste so good. The old MTV cribs series with guys barely out of school swanning around mansions that in many cases were the record company's, or temporarily rented for the optics another example. He's also just as quick at laying some of the blame at guys like himself for that arms race of BS.
