    Hi folks,

For those who have been to a game in recent weeks, what way are the pubs operating around Croke Park on match day since Covid etc? Limited capacity? Indoor seating/ outdoor seating? Have they big TV screens inside or outside? (in case I don't secure a ticket for the final).

    Any tips welcome.

Ones I have seen are busy before and after few if any procedures in place .They were full of matchgoers so don't know what they would be like during the game regarding watching on TV.

There's been a significant loss of pubs in the past few years. Quinns is gone, the Red Parrot is gone (although it was suggested they'd open for matches like the Big Tree used to), Sunset House is gone, Dorset Lounge (Caulfields Hotel) is gone.

Hogan Stand is open (with some outdoor seating), the Hideout had its signs out on the NCR so I guess its open, Auld Triangle is open (with about six outdoor seats). The Croke Park Hotel seems to have a decent sized area out back so that might be a good shot.

Big Tree will reopen - as a hotel bar, at a fraction of its size - soon but probably too late for the final.

Red Parrot was open for the hurling last Sunday week, they were doing burgers outside too

Wasn't aware of that, worth knowing. Not a great outdoor area though from memory.

Yeh wasn't any indoor seating (or outdoor), was just a one way system through the pub to get your drinks and out again into the side street where you could stand around - grand when it's dry though mightn't be much good in the pouring rain 😁

Fagans was wedged on the day of the Limerick/Waterford semi. Went in for a Club Limerick Dublin function. Food looked decent, only stayed for 1 as it was way too packed.

    Quinns is a big loss

Patrick McGraths in Drumcondra is open but as you can imagine it fulls up quite quick

Croke Park Hotel been closed is a headache for match goers

Any tips for best place to watch it near o Connell st. Been a while since I was in that area.

Murray's/Living room used to be good on a match day but not sure what it's like these days post covid

Murrays out front is closed. The shared back area is accessed via the Living Room or Fibbers at the minute. It'll probably be busy enough outdoors less so indoors with pass.

Gills and Hill 16 pub both closed last Saturday.

Gills couldn't think of the name

Very unusual it's closed match days and must be losing a fortune

Hill 16 pub is up for sale as vacant, won't be open for anything for a while

Clonliff bar was grand last Sunday.

Big covered outdoor seating area of the back for the non vaccinated. Leave your contact details at the door for in door seating. Pints lovely.

Was at the All Ireland U20 final last Sunday and to say the pub situation was dire in Drumcondra would be an understatement. Firstly none of the limited spots I went to around CP were letting match goers sit inside. And then you had to queue up starting outside to get inside for your drink and go back straight outside. The Hideout started this around 11.30, the Auld Triangle did aswell and then stopped for 15 minutes at midday because they said the guards were coming. Very difficult get a drink on that side of the ground. Gills closed. Red Parrot Closed. Caufields Hotel gone. The Temple closed. Big Tree gone. Quinns gone. Hogan Stand closed.

After the match we went back to the Auld Triangle and got a couple there and then went to The Celt on Talbot St. That was being run like a pre pandemic pub and was absolutely wedged with Offaly people. It nearly took off with the celebrations.

I'd say trying to get a pint anywhere near CP this weekend will be a nightmare. Maybe Clonliffe House could be best bet. There's very little left on the Hogan Stand side.

Good to see the Parrot getting done up. Seems to be reopening under the name Junos

  • Registered Users Posts: 37,711 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

For the bigger events you're nearly better heading into the O Connell steet area for a few pre match/concert and then walking to the ground

Pubs will be jammed for the September Garth Brooks concerts

I’d say the Parrot is aiming at being open for them
