    Hi,

I'm looking for my first car and I have my eyes on hybrids. I'm finding it very hard to find something in my budget of under €4,000 but I started to look at import-specific sites and found plenty. First question, has anyone any experience of buying from this site?https://m.carhubjapan.com/ .

I'm the first in my family to drive so I barely know the first thing with rules etc regarding imports. I'm assuming there's plenty of paperwork and costs with importing?

I appreciate any help anyone can give!

With a budget of €4k, I'd completely forget about importing from Japan as after shipping, import duty, VAT and VRT there will be no money to buy an actual car. You would need to be €6-€8k all in to get something worth bothering with. You should be able to find some Prius's here already coming in around the €4k.

Here's a good thread on the import process https://www.boards.ie/discussion/2057026786/the-big-thread-on-how-to-import-from-japan/p1

Additionally you need a declaration of the cars emissions from the Land Transport Authority Japan or you will pay full motor tax costs.

This is a good site to start with lots of stock...
