Customs office, item from Europe stuck in customs

Hi all,

An item I purchased from postNL in the Netherlands on the 23rd July (9 working days ago) I'm told is in Ireland but in customs.

Really wasn't expecting that, how can I contact them?

What is the item?

If it's tobacco, perfumes, alcohol or other restricted item, it will be seized. You'd get a letter confirming this.

Same if it was something that is fake

how do customs do this initial scanning and selecting packages for physical inspection? dog sniffers, x-ray? genuinely curious

They profile the goods and their risk profile based on a number of factors including HS code, Origin, Shipper, past experience etc..

So a shipment of coffee from Colombia would be more likely to be checked than a shipment of Pharmaceuticals from Switzerland
