Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

SPSV licence needed for Minibus?

Is an SPSV licence needed to taxi people around in a minibus for a taxi rank? Was told last week that Category D1 with CPC and digital tach would be sufficient as it's a minibus and not a taxi.

    Any advice appreciated here.

Taxi rank = taxi needs to fulfill taxi regs

Minibus with more than 9 seats = whole different set of regulations.

You'll need both. The SPSV to drive for reward and the D1 to drive the minibus. If you are doing the test do D as the costs are the same and there's more options if you have D than D1

Not convinced on that as SPSV is the acronym for Small Public Service Vehicle i.e Taxi, Hackney or Limo Max 8 passengers.

If it's a minibus 9 or more passengers then you are surely looking at PTR2009 regulations

Have B, C, D, CE licence for 30 years. Had to do SPSV test & get licence recently to drive the minibus for hire or reward & also to cover taxis.

Not going to argue, if someone told you you needed it, then they told you, however, if it's not a public service (where people are fare paying rather than contacted as a whole vehicle ) then there shouldn't be a need for the SPSV license.
